Emmy was a wriggler in her sleep as a baby and her brother seems to be the same, so when bed-e-buys asked if harry would like to review one of their baby sleeping bags we were glad to try it out.
With Harry being born in the Winter it’s rather hard to keep the rooms at the correct temperature especially at night time as our heating turns off at 10pm and comes on again at 6am and Harry’s room doesn’t have a radiator in it which is another worry.
We were sent the Bramble & Smudge Bed-a-bag which is for baby’s aged 0-6 months of age. It is made from 100% cotton and filled with 100% polyester filling, it has a tog rating of 2.5 making it really warm and snug. It is very soft and quilted and can be used with baby’s over 7lbs in weight.
Harry was 7lbs 9oz at birth so I tried it on him straight away however he was too small and his head kept slipping down inside the bag making it unsafe to use, this wasn’t a problem as he is a milk machine and at 4.5 weeks was 8lbs 7oz and had filled out enough to safely use this bag.
The sleeping bag is fastened with poppers on the shoulders, it also has poppers under the arms to use with smaller baby’s to stop their arms from slipping inside of the bag (we are using these poppers as Harry is so small). There is a zip which runs the full length of the right hand side and also along the bottom which makes it easy to unfasten without taking Harry out in the middle of the night for nappy changes.
Harry is suffering from Reflux and will not sleep on his back, he is only comfortable on his tummy, the sleeping bag brings one less worry as I know he won’t wriggle down under it like he could do with blankets and also means I don’t need to worry about sleeping him at the foot of the cot as there is no way he will slip under the covers with his cosy bag.
The Bramble & Smudge sleeping bag has a very cute teddy design on it which would be suitable for both girls and boys and the neutral colours would suit any nursery colour scheme.
Having used this bag for a few weeks now I can say it is comfy and keeps Harry very warm at night (he wears a long sleeved sleep suit underneath) and washes well too with no bobbling or fading. It is machine washable and can also be popped in the tumble drier – we don’t have a drier so I’ve been putting it in the airing cupboard after washing in the morning and it dries quick enough to use the same evening.
