Recipe: Hidden Treasure Cupcakes

Ahoy there me hearties, being as it's almost international talk like a Pirate day, I thought I'd be sharing me recipe for Hidden Treasure Cupcakes with ya.

Down to the nitty gritty as we can't be wasting out precious bounty hunting time can we?

Ingredients:
For cakes:
6oz self raising flour
6oz castor sugar
6oz marg/butter
3 eggs
1tsp vanilla essence (optional)

Topping:
Royal icing - I used coloured icing blocks but use could follow the packet instructions and make your own

Hidden Treasure:
Smarties
Haribo

Method:
Mix all the cake ingredients together, you can cream together the butter and sugar, slowly adding the flour and then eggs,  or just add altogether as I do.

Spoon a generous tablespoon into cupcake cases and bake for around 12-15 minutes.

Allow to cool

Using a knife, make a small circle in the top of the cake and hollow out the middle using a spoon or melon scoop, taking care not to go all the way through to the bottom.

Fill with sweets and then ice your cakes. We've used an X marks the spot design on ours.

This is a blog hop so why not check out these other pirate themed posts from other bloggers.
