How to Make a Heart Wall Hanging Decoration

Having just moved Emmy’s room around again I found she had a lovely space on the wall which was just calling to be decorated.  With Valentine’s Day around the corner and having received our first box of craft materials as we have just joined the Bostik Bloggers team for 2016 it was a perfect excuse to get creative.
I have made her a wall hanging decoration/mobile which can be kept in place all year round and looks wonderful in her bedroom.

You will need:
  • Straw
  • Wool or string
  • Thin Knitting needle
  • Ribbon
  • Coloured card in lots of different colours (I’ve used white card and wrapping paper for parts of mine)
  • Stickers/embellishments
  • Glue
  • Clothes pegs
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
How to make:
  • Cut a length of wool around 2 and a half times the length of the straw and thread through the straw, you can push this through using your knitting needle.  Knot the ends together and twist the wool so the knot is hidden inside the straw.

  • Cut lengths of ribbon to the same size – I used 3 lengths (you can trim them later on)
  • Wrap the ribbon onto the straw and glue into place, use the pegs to secure into place while the glue dries.
How to guide, Bostik blogger
  • While the glue dries, fold a piece of card in half and draw half a heart shape, unfold and cut out – this will become your template.  Using this template cut out 8 heart shapes from your coloured card.
I cut some from white card and stuck wrapping paper on then trimmed to shape
  • Decorate as you like – I’ve used stickers, gems and felt shapes

  • Place your heart shapes over the ribbon to decide on their positioning, when you are happy with it glue them into place.  Add a heavy book on top and keep in place until the glue has set.
  • Hang in position.
Disclaimer:  I am a Bostik Blogger and have been provided with a small box of craft materials to help inspire my Valentines craft.  All creative input is my own and I even had to clear up my own mess made after crafting.
