I think most of us throughout our lives have watched a Disney film and wondered what it would be like to live like a princess for a day, and I’m sure many of our children feel the same! It can be hard thinking of creative ways to decorate your child’s bedroom, so why not get inspired by their favourite Disney films and give their space a magical makeover? If your little one’s room is due an update, here’s some tips on three different princess themed bedroom ideas to try out.
Elsa’s icy kingdom
Frozen holds the title of the highest grossing Disney film to date, and it’s not hard to see why. Aside from the great storyline and songs (which most mum’s likely know word for word!) the imagery of the film is stunning, and makes the perfect theme for your little Princess’s room. Begin by decorating your child’s walls with some glitter wallpaper to set the magical tone, and look for a bedspread in a matching shade or featuring a Frozen print.
Once you’ve given the majority of the room a makeover, it’s time to hunt down some icy accessories. Unleash your creative side and make some DIY hanging snowflakes for the bedroom window, and look for chandelier style light shades for some glamorous princess style. A fluffy white throw with matching cushions could make a great wintery addition to your child’s bed, and don’t forget the room’s very own Olaf snowman cuddly toy for the ultimate finishing touch!
Cinderella’s cosy abode
Sometimes the classics are the best, and Cinderella is one Disney Princess whose classic style can make some beautiful bedroom decor. Every Princess needs a carriage, so switching your child’s regular bed with a canopy style frame is a clever way to achieve a Cinderella themed room. Alternatively you could make your own canopy, using sheer blue material inspired by the famous blue dress!
Paint the walls of the bedroom in matching blue and white shades, or pink if you want to add a bit more girlyness, and create a feature wall by using stencils to paint castles and other details. Bring the theme together with Cinderella themed accessories such as pumpkins, glass slipper ornaments and regal looking furniture to add a touch of luxury to the room.
Ariel’s underwater palace
For a Disney theme that’s a bit different, go under the sea with a Little Mermaid style
princess bedroom. Use a sea-themed colour palette of blues and greens for the rooms walls, and find bed throws and cushions in silky materials for an ocean feel.
A large sea blue rug and some underwater wall stickers can bring the theme together even further, and don’t forget your little mermaid’s very own dressing table to keep all her gadgets and gizmos galore!
