A short while ago I was asked if I was up to a Nutty challenge – never one to turn down a challenge of any kind I accepted.
The challenge was to eat a portion of Almonds every day for 21 days – simple. A challenge even I the most forgetful person in the world could remember to do.

The above picture shows a portion size – 1oz of Almonds – 23 Almonds
21 days later my challenge is up, it was easy but was it beneficial?
Honestly – I can’t say I feel any different for taking up the challenge, they did make a nice change in my snack habits and I did tend to reach for these before my normal chocolate bar or packet of crisps so maybe that is a good thing after all?
I will continue to add these to a weekly shop and maybe instead of just snacking on them I may try to add them to my meals as well.
I haven’t eaten any crisps during this challenge whereas I would usually have 2/3 packs a week and I have eaten less chocolate.
- They are rich in nutrients and cholesterol-free so good for your heart
- Eaten between meals they help to curb cravings so are beneficial to weight loss
- A natural source of protein, almonds are high in monounsaturated fat
- Gram for gram the tree nut highest in protein, fibre, vitamin E, riboflavin and niacin
The challenge for me was really easy as I was provided with individual portion sized sachets of Almonds and a tiny tin as show in the above picture, it was also easy as Emmy found great pleasure in force feeding them to me every day! If she found the tin on the side she would come across and pop one into my mouth whether I wanted it or not.
