A parents guide to understanding different social media platforms

Social media is huge, there is no denying that.  It is my main means of keeping in touch with friends and family as well as obviously using it to promote this blog.

It can be beneficially and a great way to interact – if used correctly that is.

Did you know that 60% of 9-17 year olds have some sort of social media account, with 71% of these using those accounts at least once a week.

As parents it is important we teach our children of the dangers and downsides of these platforms, as although they are a fantastic way of keeping in touch with their friends they may also encounter cyber bullying, friend requests from strangers and many other issues.

Below is a parents guide to social media which talks about a few of the best ways to help keep your child safe online.

Emmy and Harry are obviously way too young to have any of their own accounts, however when they do I will make sure I follow them and am friends with them on their platforms, and of course make sure their privacy setting are all in place.

Emmy and I ran the Race for Life last month in loving memory of my wonderful Mother-in-Law Anne who sadly passed away on 14th July. We would be honoured if you would consider sponsoring us to race money for Cancer Research UK.
