Book Swap – St. Albans

Did you know that September is National Literacy Month?  I must admit I didn’t!  To celebrate this The Maltings Shopping Centre in St. Albans is holding a book swap event on Wednesday 28th September.

It is easy to take part in this event – simply take along any unwanted books and swap them for something you do want!  It’s as easy as that.

What better way to expand you literary horizons or do something more useful and get rid of all those unwanted books which are cluttering your house – I have bookcases full of such books as Paul and I both love to read however both of us now own ereaders and more resently Paul has brought a Kindle. So for a while I have been wondering what on earth to do with all these read and re-read books which are now collecting dust!

The event is open to people of all ages so you will be able to find something to suit all ages/abilities and tastes from picture books to novels.  The swap is taking place outside the library and will run from 10am to 4pm.

The Maltings Centre Manager Phil Corrigan commented “Getting members of the local community interested in literature is invaluable and the swap is a great way to discover a new book which you can’t put down!”

National Literacy Month is aimed at improving the reading and writing skills of people of all ages therefore the book swap is a great way of bringing the local community together and building on these essential skills.
The Maltings Centre is only around half an hour from my house so if I get a chance I will definately head over to the swap and rid my shelves of some well read books and maybe find a brand new favourite while I am there.
