Disclaimer: I received this service free of charge in exchange for this post, as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. Read on to read my review on rubbish removal from Clearabee.

It’s that time of year again when we all tend to have a clearout of the old, to make way for the new. Of course, more and more of us are doing that now than ever as we are confined to our homes so this spring clean gives us something to do, to occupy ourselves and take our minds off of this very strange situation we currently find ourselves in.

Lockdown, has been great for my house, as for the first time in 20 years of living here Paul is actually helping with sorting things out. He has tackled the shed, and I am sending him up into the loft this week to put all the things I’ve sorted from the spare room up there.

I generally have a house sort out a few times a year, picking an area at a time to concentrate on, but being stuck in the house for 4 weeks already and t least another 3 to come, it has given me time to tackle most of it already.

The trouble with these types of clear out, even in normal times, is that we are then left with a huge pile of rubbish to either recycle or get rid of.

Making a trip to the tip or recycling centre is an annoyance, especially if you have a lot of stuff and it puts many of us off, then there is the fact not all of us drive, and that these places in this very strange time are actually currently closed.

No-one wants to have a massive clearout and then be stuck with the results of that outside our homes for ages which is where rubbish removal from Clearabee comes in.

Clearabee are the UK’s largest Man & Van clearance company. They also offer skip hire, skip bags and total waste management services. Operating across the UK using their own in-house teams and their own fleet of more than 100 vehicles.

They are able to clear most waste streams, from most locations, on the same day or a day of your choice. They also offset all of the co2 generated by their vehicles with their own forest – Clearabee planted 6,500 trees in 2018 and another 12,000 in 2019, creating two new UK forests and also divert 95% of the waste that is collected from landfill.

I was sent a Medium-sized skip bag for my latest clearout, these arrive via courier on the next working day ready for your clearout and are the perfect solution for us, as we have no driveway, hiring a skip would be expensive as we would need to place it on the road and for that we would have to apply for a licence from the council, which of course bumps up the cost further. Once you have ordered your skip bag via the website, you have 6 months to fill it and arrive the collection so you don’t have to hurry to do this all in one go – although, it’s not like we don’t have the time on our hands currently to get it all sorted now.

These skip bags can be placed in our front garden, it is suggested that it is close to the boundary to make the rubbish removal easiest for the collection. I placed mine in my front garden nearest to the road so it was easy to empty again.

We spent a few days clearing out our garden shed of all the rubbish which had collected in there, an old hoover which I had planned to get repaired then never bothered to do, old tins of paint, an old plastic greenhouse which had broken, old tents, chairs etc – these all went into the skip bag, along with an old monitor from the spare room, old Christmas trees which I had replaced and forgotten to get rid of, an old computer monitor, old duvets and pillows and a collection of other broken bits and pieces which were collecting around the house awaiting removal. I also had had a sort out of the kids clothes which no longer fitted, I had given some away free via FB but those which didn’t go also went into the skip bag as the clothes recycling bins are all currently closed.

It’s quite amazing just how quickly you are able to fill up these bags once you get started. Once filled you can book a collection at a time to suit you by calling Clearabee or by doing so on the website. You don’t actually have to be home when they collect the bags unless they need to gain access to the back garden etc.

Usually, the collection is done in teams of two people and they will unpack the bags into the back of their van. Due to Covid-19, the collections are being done by a single person for social distancing reasons, but they are still very much working to remove all our rubbish for us.

The whole service was very well communicated and the team are super friendly, I knew when my driver was coming to collect by skip bag and he was very professional, speedy and friendly too.

This is a service I will be using again, it is very affordable and reliable and I have already recommended them to friends and family. This was my second time using Clearabee and I will happily continue to do so.

We had a medium skip bag which costs £149.99 for the bag and collection (VAT included), small bags with collection cost £114.99 and large bags with collection cost £209.99.

For further information please do visit their website www.clearabee.co.uk, you can also find them over on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
