Cool Maker Kumikreator Friendship Bracelet Maker Review + Giveaway

kumikreator friendship bracelet maker review

I remember sitting for hours as a child making friendship bracelets by hand in my bedroom for all my best friends, I would have threads all over my carpet and would loop the ends over the handles of my drawers to help keep the thread tight so I could painstakingly knot them together making elaborate patterns.

I’m not going to lie they were a complete pain to make and took hours however if you’d made one for one BFF you had to make all your friends the same otherwise there would be massive fallouts – oh the joys of primary school.

I have tried to teach Emmy how to make them but she is the least patient child so gave up after around 5 minutes, not that I could blame her.

Recently she was sent a Cool Maker Kumikreator friendship bracelet maker and while she was very keen to get going I had reservations due to my past experience hand making these. I have to admit I was so wrong in my initial thoughts on this product and although it comes with lots of pieces it is so easy to set up and to get going although I do recommend you watch the recommended YouTube video on how to set this up as it’s far easier than wading through the instructions and also helps with any trouble shooting you may have.

You have the option to make bracelets with 4, 8 or 12 spools of tread – this determines how elaborate your design will be once finished.

To set up you need to attach the thread holding arm to the machine which is just a case of clicking into place, then you have to turn the handle so the gaps are at the bottom and the blue spinals at the top and the bottom of the machine.

Next you open the booklet which shows you the patterns you can make and choose which you want to follow – place the coloured spools into the machine and push into place until the click.

You then need to pass the coloured thread up the spool holder and out of the top – it is essential you DO NOT forget to do this otherwise your thread will tangle later. The next step is to pull the thread upwards and pass through the clip on the arm, do this with all the spools and then click the arm closed to hold all in place.

Ensure the threads are taught by turning back the spools and you are then ready to go.

Turn the handle and keep turning at a steady pace until the 3 red lines have lined up – the arm will move up as your bracelet progresses.

Once complete, use one of the stickers to tie the threads at the bottom securely, measure how long you want your bracelet to be and secure another sticker around the top of the bracelet. Pull on the bracelet and it will pull the remaining threads off of the spools.  Trim the excess thread, add a clasp fastener and a stopper and you are finished.

It takes less than 5 minutes to make a bracelet with this machine from start to finish.

Emmy has really enjoyed making these and now al of her friends have one each, and I have already ordered the refill pack so she can make more.

There are a few troubleshooting things to mention:

  • Make sure you pass the threads through the top of the spool otherwise they will tangle
  • click the arm closed when all the threads have been threaded through, otherwise they will come loose when you are turning the handle
  • Ensure you wind the spools so the threads are taught or the bracelet may stop mid way through or wont be tight enough so will unravel
