Don’t forget to spoil yourself – Avoiding those January Blues

**Collaborative post**

Treating yourself doesn’t mean a huge blowout at your favourite high street store. No matter how tempting that would be! Treating yourself shouldn’t mean that you risk your mental or financial state either. In fact, there are plenty of ways you can spoil yourself without reaching for your debit card or having to convince yourself not to feel bad about it afterwards.

Read on for some super simple and perfectly satisfying ways you can treat yourself this weekend. Go on, you deserve it!

Treat your face

We all lead busy lives, so our makeup routines often get stuck in a rut. The same old primer, foundation and blusher. So, why not shake things up a bit? Why not do a little research and find out if there’s a better foundation out there for your skin – it’s tricky to always pick the ideal foundation for your skin! Make sure you’re using products that are cruelty-free and have good pigmentation. You’ll be amazed at how easily you can transform your look with some new things in your makeup bag. They don’t cost the earth either!

Add some special touches to the house

A quick way to cheer your mood and put a smile on your face is a quick change of decoration – so when the tree goes back into the loft and the new presents are tidied away and you have had that big post-Christmas clean up, you may feel your front room is missing something with no more Christmas lights to bring that homely glow.

Special lights don’t always have to be saved for the festive period however, pretty lights will help brighten your mood and can change the look and feel of a room instantly.

Make yourself breakfast in bed

There’s something altogether regal about breakfast in bed. And you shouldn’t have to wait until Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day to enjoy it! You can recreate that royal feeling this weekend, and treat yourself to some smashed avocado on toast, smoked salmon and cream cheese or even something super simple like toast and honey. Fill a champagne flute with orange juice and add a single flower in a vase and voila! Breakfast is served. Here are a few breakfast ideas to get you started.

Indulge your ears and your mind

By this, I mean listen to an audiobook. We lead busy lives and many of us can’t find the time to sit and read a book – even though we’d love to. So, the next best thing is to download an audiobook and have a listen while you’re doing your everyday thing. It could even be an old childhood favourite! You’ll be smiling from ear to ear.

Moisturise and buff your skin

A long hot soak, a refreshing exfoliation session and then massaging in some gorgeously indulgent moisturiser, all over your body. You’ll feel as smooth as a dolphin and look a million dollars. You’ll smell amazing too.

Book a day off work

You don’t have to have anything special planned to utilise those sanctified days off work. Just booking a day off so you can have some time to yourself, catch up with friends, binge watch that TV show everyone has been talking about, or just get out and about in nature and enjoy your own company with a nice walk. Bliss. You’ll thank yourself later.

Eat

I know that after Christmas you may be wanting to kick start that diet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself at all! Head to that new café on the high street with all the new, artisan coffees and indulgent cakes. Spoil yourself with some chocolate and cream. Delicious!
