You know rather well by time that my kids very rarely sit still unless they are poorly so getting them interested in a board game is impossible!
However recently we were sent two games from University Games which seemed to have held their attentions for at least 5 minutes – believe me that is an improvement.
You know of our love of all things pirate – so this really appealed to us all.
This game is all about having a steady hand, coordination, balance and patience – yes the kids were doomed from the off really!
There is a crew of 16 penguins which you need to take turn in balancing them on top of the wobbly pirate ship.
The boat is balanced carefully upon an iceberg and one false move send the pirates flying overboard into the ice cold water aka your table or floor.
This had the kids in fits of giggles and neither of them could do it – Emmy took to cheating and holding the ship steady with her hand while lining up her penguin’s forgetting to await her turn!
This game is for two to four players. Ages five and above RRP £14.99. It is available From Toymaster, Argos, Toys R Us, Amazon, Tesco and Smyths.
Bunny jump game is aimed for 2 – 4 players aged 4+
Each player takes turns to spin the dial and to then remove the amount of carrots from the bunny burrow as it indicates. You keep pulling out the carrots until the bunny jumps into the air and the winner is the one who catches the bunny before it lands.
This game encourages counting, turn taking as well as coordination.
Neither Emmy nor Harry could easily spin the counter, it kept getting stuck and they got bored with that so just took turns in pulling the carrots, they also couldn’t catch him either but found it very funny anyway.
This is a game they keep returning to over and over again and keeps them giggling.
RRP £19.99 This game is available at Toys R Us, Hamleys, Argos, Smyths, Amazon and Toymaster.
