Getting out and about even in winter #nodulldays

**Collaborative post**

I have to admit, as a family we find getting out and about so much easier in the warmer months – it’s quicker to just grab a bag and perhaps some sun glasses and head off to the park. Now it’s colder it does take that much longer to leave the house as the children need boots, coats and they are now beginning to need hats and gloves too.

We’ve always been a family who are happy to head outdoors in all weathers, so, are fully prepared for the colder weather and to help make sure we don’t just hibernate I like to have all out outdoor wear together and ready to grab at short notice. There is nothing worse then hunting around for boots  and gloves when the kids are trying to race you out of the door. I have a grab box by the front door, this contains umbrellas, hats, gloves and the boots and coats are just by the door too – there is no need to pre-plan an adventure all the time, just grab and go and find one.

With both children now in school we are finding that the time we actually have to get out and about is limited and now the evenings are darker much earlier, by the time they come home from school and their clubs have finished we have on many of the days completely missed daylight hours completely as a family.

The kids don’t seem to mind but I am well aware that they do need Vitamin D to help support their bones and muscle growth, of course a great source of Vitamin D comes from natural sunlight but we lack this in winter The Department of Health experts now recommending that during autumn and winter everyone should consider taking a daily supplement containing 10 micrograms of Vitamin D to protect bone and muscle health. This is where Bassetts are here to help children, we all know adults can happily pop a pill without too much of a fuss but children need a little more encouragement to do so.

Bassetts Vitamins 3-6 Multivitamins + Vitamin D & Calcium have just launched, these are chewy tablets for children aged 3-6 years of age.  They are peach & apricot flavoured and come in packs of 30, available to buy for a RRP of £5.50.

Emmy and Harry have happily added these to their morning routines just after breakfast, they are enjoying the taste and know they are helping to care for their bodies from the inside just as their favourite fruits and vegetables also do. Also being a multivitamin these also help care for children’s eyes, skin, bones & muscles, nervous system, teeth, immune system and also vitality – regular readers will know that my kids manage to pick up every bug and germ going especially in the winter months so we are now religiously taking these.

Bassetts want to ensure that families are able to carry on enjoying life to the full and have #nodulldays no matter the weather or season. Looking through our family calendar we certainly have a busy few months ahead of us, in fact there are no free weekends left until mid January and most of February is already booked up too. We have a holiday planned for Easter and already one booked for the Summer holidays, alongside Christmas shopping, theatre trips, birthday parties, Santa visits and a few fun days out planned I am certainly looking forward to turning on my out of office notifications this Christmas and enjoying some quiet family time.

On the quiet days we do have planned, once the kids have completed homework we always make time for a quick visit to the park or to feed the ducks, climb trees, ride bikes or scooters or even to squeeze in a visit to the local pool – always active in some way or another. These may not be long trips due to the weather and darker mornings and evenings but with young active kids we need to get out and do something even if only for half an hour at a time equipped with boots, coats or even torches – I’ve just purchased the kids some awesome new beanie style hats which have torches attached.

  1. Mine really love these vitamins too, it’s so easy not to get out and about in Winter isn’t it, but it’s so good when you do, we’ve just been plotting how we deal with this in our house, so feeling inspired reading this and seeing your photos.
