Hallmark and Twitter team up for a Majestic Birthday Greeting

How do you create a birthday card that is, quite literally, fit for a Queen? That’s the conundrum that the greetings card and gift specialist Hallmark has just solved – with plenty of help from the nation’s Twitter users, who shared with Hallmark their special birthday messages for Her Royal Majesty, ahead of her 87th birthday on the 21st April.

Twitter users were asked to use the dedicated hashtag #HappyBirthdayMaam to reveal their most fond memories of the Queen, to be included on an enormous birthday card designed by Hallmark.

The very best Tweets were then chosen and the messages arranged on the birthday card in the shape of the Queen’s iconic silhouette that appears on our postage stamps, before being hand-delivered to Buckingham Palace just in time for her special day.

Dozens of wonderful memories from the Queen’s sixty-year reign were recalled by Royal Family-loving Twitter users, from the many times that she’s stepped out with her beloved Royal Corgis, to her role in the wedding of William and Kate, and her admirable poise during her Diamond Jubilee flotilla on the Thames – which of course coincided with a characteristic British downpour.

A Memorable Monarch

Other Twitter users said that they’ve always revered in her elegant sense of style, whilst others remembered her own wedding to Prince Phillip, and even the day on which she presented the Jules Rimet trophy to the England football squad back in 1966.

However, one memory stood out most of all in the minds of dozens of Twitter users, which was her unforgettable cameo appearance in the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. During the montage, the Queen was collected by Buckingham Palace by none other than Daniel Craig as James Bond, before they both appeared to leap from a helicopter into the Olympic Stadium with the help of Union Jack parachutes!

With so many lovely birthday messages from her admiring subjects to read, we like to think that Her Royal Majesty will make a nice cup of tea, before settling down with her corgis and her bespoke giant Hallmark birthday card. Unfortunately you won’t be able to buy a card of such a size from Hallmark, but you can still make your card unique with a fantastic range of personalised greetings cards available to buy online.
