For the past few years we have surprised the children at Christmas time with a trip to the O2 to see Disney on Ice. The first time we attended Harry was only 2 and we did wonder if he was too young, however the magic of Disney took over and I have never seen that little boy sit so still and was encaptivated by the entire show.
Now the Disney on Ice tour marks the start of our family Christmas adventures. There is something magical about Disney, you are just never too old to enjoy it, and I do admit to happily sitting alone on many occasions watching a Disney movie alone. This year, due to many other commitments we will be having our annual family trip to see the new Disney on Ice show: Passport to Adventure after Christmas – there is only so much we can fit in before hand sadly but this actually means we have something exciting to look forward to after.
Each year the show is tweaked and changed to make include various Disney characters and scenes from your favourite shows, and every year you will see children beaming, singing away and dancing in their seats – this year will be no different.
Dancers are finely choreographed to pull off all range of moves, making up for any sparser set pieces. Each story comes with its own technical flair: Peter Pan soaring from the balcony of the Darling household to an iced Neverland makes for a wonderful touch. Audience interaction is given an original twist when children are invited into a submarine, and guided through the “Under the Sea” dance number. This calypso celebration is packed with colour and joy: it’s a highlight of the production…until the final story of the show.
Celebrate the most memorable Disney tales with all your favourite characters in Disney On Ice presents Passport to Adventure. Join Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, Goofy and Daisy on a journey to the timeless worlds of Disney’s The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, and Disney’s Frozen.
You and your family will explore the African Pride Lands with Simba and friends, voyage to Ariel’s underwater kingdom and fly from London to Neverland with Peter Pan and Wendy to meet up with Tinker Bell. You’ll also travel to Arendelle for an extraordinary adventure with sisters Anna and Elsa, mountain man Kristoff and the huggable snowman Olaf.
