What the kids are watching currently on Netflix #StreamTeam

With the children back to school, the exhaustion has kicked in for them as neither of them are sleeping well at night time currently and Harry is poorly – it’s with all good intentions that we play when they come home from school but that’s lasts only around an hour before they are fed up with games and crafts, the fighting begins and the tears as they are over tired.  Thankfully as part of the Netflix Stream Team they have their favourite shows at the ready as and when they want them.
Here is what we are all currently enjoying:

  • Mako Mermaids:
A sequal to H20 (which she hasn’t actually seen but makes no difference) – this show is about 3 mermaids who’s job it is to guard Mako Island.  Unfortunately during their guard a boy ventures into their pod during a full moon and turns into a Mer-man.
As far fetched as it seems this is a show which draws you in – I often find myself snuggled up with Emmy watching a couple of episodes.

There are 3 seasons to this show, the first has 26 episodes and the second two have 13 – it’s been her bedtime show of choice for a while now and she is currently on the third season.
It makes a nice happy medium between the cartoons she was watching and the Americanised tween shows.

  • WordGirl:
A cartoon which helps with children’s vocabulary.
WorlGirl is disguised as a mild-mannered fifth grader in daily life.  This verbal superhero springs into action to fight crime and enrich vocabulary usage.
1 season available with 26 episodes.

I’m not a fan of this but anything which adds to her learning can’t be a bad thing really.

  • Barbie Charm School:
Emmy loves the Barbie movies and has watched this one a few times.
  • Mr Peabody and Sherman Show:
Harry loved this film so the show is the next best thing.
In their new show, Mr. Peabody and Sherman host a zany late-night comedy show from a swanky penthouse, with time-travelling guests and a live audience.
    1 season with  13 episodes.
  • Zig & Sharko:
Zig, an island-bound hyena will do anything to get his paws on Marina the mermaid, but her devoted pal Sharko always comes to her rescue just in time.
  • Masha and the Bear:
A cute but extremely annoying (sorry Mummy’s opinion) girl called Masha lives in the forest, where she has many wonderful adventures with her neighbour, a bear who used to be in the circus.
  • Suckers:
Fun-loving Travis, a stuffed toy who lives stuck on the inside of a car window, is always looking for adventure with his equally unusual and mischievous pals.

Slap-stick humour which has Harry rolling around in fits of giggles.

Movies we have enjoyed for family movie night:
  • The Adventures of Sharkboy & Lavagirl:
A 10 year old dreamers imaginary friends – mighty Sharkboy and fire-producing Lavagirl both come to life to seek his help battling a nefarious baddie.
  • Happily N’Ever After 2:
When her father’s fiancée turn out to be a real witch, Snow White springs into action to put a sop to the wedding and bring peace to the kingdom.
  • Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium:
When 243 year old Mr. Magorium falls ill, he turns over his fantastical toy store to his manager, who isn’t sure she is ready to take on the reins.
