There is nothing Emmy loves more than dressing up – she has a whole double wardrobe in her bedroom dedicated and filled with all of her favourite dressing up costumes from Pirates to Princesses and everything inbetween.
She has tiaras, bags, masks, hats, shoes, wings, swords and everything else which you could possibly want to team with a dressing up outfit. I wrote only last week of the benefits of dressing up for children which include fine and gross motor skills, helping to build self-esteem, role play, promoting imagination and lots more.
Of course, as much as she loves dressing as pirates and sword fighting her brother she always defaults to her princess costumes and is such a girlie girl. She loves all the Disney movies with her latest favourite being Beauty and the Beast.
To coincide with the launch of the Beauty and the Beast DVD, the world renowned, specialist dress up company, Rubie’s Masquerade have made a limited edition Belle Ball Gown which is available to buy exclusively in the UK at Harrods. There are only 1000 of these Belle dresses which have been created across Europe, Australia and Asia so they really will become an heirloom item which young girls can pass down to younger generations and recreate precious childhood memories for years to come.
Emmy has received one of these beautiful dresses and I have to say this is the first time I have been jealous of her clothes and wished it fitted me. The attention to detail is amazing and it really does emulate Belle’s dress in the movie with shimmering fabrics, golden hued ribbon and embroidered trims.
A beautiful dress which will make any young girl look and feel like a princess and become their very own Belle of the Ball.
Each dress is numbered for authenticity by means of a certificate of authenticity – Emmy has number 89 0f 1000.
The dress comes complete with a pair of fingerless gloves, these come with an organza bag to help keep them pristine and a velvet pocket to keep your certificate safely in, Emmy has taken to using this as a bag as every little girl loves her accessories (we’ve put the certificate safely away).
Under the dress is a double hooped petticoat underskirt with tiers of ruffled organza which helps to ensure the fullness of a true princess’s ball gown, of course this makes it perfect for the dance floor as it twirls beautifully. Every little detail has been clearly thought out even down to the little things such as adding a ribbon under the hooped skirt so you can tie it up when not being worn to make the skirt lay flat on the hanger. The embroidered detailing is also beautiful with added flowers and gems.
The ribbon design at the back reminds me of my own wedding dress only thankfully this is stitched into place and there is no need to tug and pull Emmy into it and tie as my Mum and best friend had to on my wedding day, the large bow at the back is also removable.
It also comes complete with an organza and satin cover and padded satin hanger will help keep this exquisite masterpiece in pristine condition when not being worn.
This dress is on sale now in Harrods Toy Kingdom which is located on the 3rd floor. With only 1000 pieces made these retail at £199. This certainly isn’t your every day dressing up outfit, you can see and feel the quality and attention to detail – I can see this making a perfect prom dress or even a flower girls outfit to complete any fairy tale wedding. Available in sizes Small, Medium and Large – Emmy is wearing a Medium which fits ages 5-6 ish (Emmy generally wears age 7-8 clothes and this is a perfect fit for her)
