In the city it’s been known for ages that Thursday nights were the new Friday night but does the fun have to stop once you are a parent? Of course it doesn’t but that fun becomes slightly different type of fun, the bars are left behind for child free days and nightclubs certainly aren’t appropriate.
That said there is so much fun you can have with your family and it doesn’t have to all be about soft play areas, theme parks or taking them swimming.
On the 3rd August Lord’s Cricket Ground will be host a Family Night during the Middlesex v Hampshire NatWest T20 Blast fixture, with plenty of entertainment both on and off of the pitch with a wide range of activities taking place for children of all ages to enjoy – and of course their parents.
Pinky’s Pavilion will take over the Nursery Ground and here the kids will be able to get involved with lots of fun activities, including:
- Play Middlesex’s fast and fun format B20 cricket
- Bowling speed gun – could you be a future Steven Finn?
- Funfair games including hoopla, hook-a-duck and coconut shy
- Player signings – meet the pros and get their autographs
- Have your photo taken with the Championship trophy
There’s also the chance to meet the players and get autographs, as well as photo opportunities with both the NatWest T20 Blast and Specsavers County Championship trophies something parents and their children will enjoy equally I’m sure.
If that wasn’t enough to keep you entertained other activities for the night will include a NatWest virtual reality unit, cricket taster sessions in the MCC Academy, balloon modellers, face painters and more. There will also be lots of food options to keep the whole family fuelled and ready for more family fun including a special Artisan Pizza unit, plus all the usual treats from WG’s, Lord’s Food Village and outlets around the Ground.
After all the excitement, kids and adults can then grab a 4/6 sign, a hairy headband or a giant foam finger and head to the stands for what promises to be a fantastic evening of T20 cricket.
With adult tickets just £20 and under-16s only £5, it is the perfect family event this summer holidays. For more information, please visit lords.org/familynight.
