Making picnics fun

That’s it, the Summer holiday’s are officially here and hopefully the hot weather will stay for the  duration.
For us that means spending as much time as we can outside having fun in the garden, at the park, in the woods and of course making use of our Merlin passes and visiting the Theme Parks too.
To keep down the costs of the holidays as lets face it 6 and a bit weeks off entertaining children can be expensive, we make our own picnics to take with us as often as possible.  The trouble with that is sandwiches can get rather boring and Emmy and Harry aren’t all that keen.
To combat that this we have been making our picnics a little different.
I have been getting the kids to help make their own food, design their own sandwiches and of course this does help to encourage them to eat more.
You can find out how we made these van and cat sandwiches over on the Flora website and see which fillings the kids chose for our picnic.
We also like to save some plain pasta from the night before’s dinner if we are heading out as the kids love plain pasta and cold sausages always go down well.
What are your favourite family picnic foods?
Disclosure: I was commissioned to create this post for the Flora website and to share it with you here

Emmy and I completed the Race for Life in memory of my wonderful Mother-in-Law (Emmy’s Nanny) who sadly passed away on the 14th of this month.  We would love it if you could consider sponsoring us.
