Review & Giveaway: The BFG 250 piece puzzle

Up until recently Emmy hasn’t shown any interest in completing puzzles, It was something I tried with her when she was little and she just wasn’t keen once she progressed past the wooden peg board styles.

Once she had to think about them and they got harder she just refused to even try. It was only when Harry was completing hard puzzles has her interest sparked again, and with her love of all things Roald Dahl it seemed a perfect opportunity to work together on a 250 piece puzzle when she was sent The BFG puzzle from Paul Lamond Games.

This puzzle lets you create a whizzpopping picture of everyone’s favourite dream-catcher, the Big Friendly Giant and his friend; Sophie, as you piece together this fantastic 250 piece puzzle and bring to life Roald Dahl’s classic novel, The BFG.

The entertaining and heart-warming tale of The BFG, from the world’s number one storyteller; Roald Dahl, has captivated children across the world for over 35 years.

Not the easiest puzzle to start as the edges are all green with white wording – you really need to concentrate and look for the sentences on each of the sides – There are also lots of different font styles and sizes which does make looking for the words a little easier but I have to be honest and say I had to complete ALL of the edges as Emmy was unable to do it (well, she gave up and couldn’t be bothered is more accurate).

The puzzle sees a beautiful collage of illustrations from Sir Quentin Blake – you’ll find The BFG, a dream jar, Sophie, Dreams being blown into a window, a library full of dream jars, the giants being captured and more – the more you look at this puzzle the more scenes you will recognise.

Harry was more interested in this than Emmy

All wonderfully framed with quotes from the story “Every dream in the world is making a different sort of buzzy-hun music”, “What I mean and what I say is two different things”.

Aged for children aged 6+ I would say it would be more suitable for 8+ as it is a difficult puzzle – that said Harry managed to do more of this puzzle than Emmy did (he does love puzzles!).

RRP £8.95
