Review & Giveaway: Dressing on a budget with House of Fraser

As a Mum, a busy one at that, it’s very rare that I actually step out of my Jeans and Jumpers.  They are comfortable and practical, with 2 long School runs a day to contend with each taking an hour in total it’s safe to say that fashion is far from my mind when throwing an outfit together just before I need to leave.  My priorities are feeding the children and making sure they are both dressed in school uniform and for Harry Pre-School appropriate clothes (he attends 2 days a week and I’m fed up of his decent clothes being covered in paint), then there is the making sure all School books are ready, Reading and homework has been done, water bottles and bags ready and Harry’s packed lunch made.  What I wear is at the bottom of that list and on my return there is the housework, shopping and Harry’s clubs.
It’s also rare that I treat myself to new outfits, the kids usually come first so when House of Fraser asked me to choose something from their dress range for myself it was a lovely treat, and more importantly because of the sale I was actually able to choose 2 outfits for the budget of a fraction under £35.
First off I chose the above tunic top, a Navy coloured tunic which features a scooped neckline with a drawstring fastening, it has elasticated cuffs and a drawstring waist.
There is a beautiful embroidered detaining to the bottom of this.
Made from 100% polyester with a 100% cotton lining – machine washable on a cool wash of 30 degrees.
This style comes up large so you may want to drop a size when ordering.  Originally £65 this is currently on offer for £19.50
The second dress I chose was a capped sleeve cowl neck patterned dress, this dress is much shorter than I would ever wear as a dress so I team this with leggings and as it is so cold currently I also add a 3/4 length top under.
It has pockets either side and features 2 buttons on the waist design.
A very well fitting top (I actually wouldn’t call this a dress unless you perhaps have no waist, bum or boobs) as it is that short you would be flashing more than you should be.
This tunic style dress works well with leggings and heels and can be dressed up or down for day or evening wear.
Comfortable to wear and easy to wash, machine wash at 40 degrees – it is a tighter style dress featuring a very cute heart and assorted repeated pattern in black and white.  This was £15 in the sale although is now currently out of stock.
Giveaway Time

As the top tunic is too big for me I am giving this away to one of my readers – this is the Navy tunic with embroidered bottom and long sleeves and is a size 14.  (please note this is the only size and will not be exchanged for another).
If you would like to win this long sleeved tunic in a size 14 please enter via the rafflecopter form below.  This giveaway will close at midnight on 8th March 2016 – Good Luck.

  1. Hello, I love very soft and stretchy Skinny jeans, and a long mid sleeve top, you can dress it up with heels and a scarf, or down with boots, converse etc – Ahhhhh comfy!!!!

  2. I am a leggings and tunic gal all year round and the only concession I make in winter is wearing a padded gilet over my tunic and boots instead of flip flops.

  3. I usually wear jeans and t-shirt day to day – around the house i'm often even scruffier in tracksuit! I have a similar tunic top that is one of my favourites and i wish i had bought a second one at the time as I really like the style.
