The canvas came beautifully wrapped in Ladybird wrapping paper to make it extra special – Emmy really liked having her very own ‘present’ to open. The canvas itself is perfect – just what I was loking for. This type of handprinting is so unique as imperfection is the key to the perfection.
I was looking for something a little different for Emmy’s wall of her playroom area in our front room, while browsing I can across a company called Something Wonderful Design. I was drawn to this local company who are based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire (not too far from me).
Kim makes beautiful personised works of art – all hand printed using Typegraphical fine art Linoprints which remind her of her childhood where her love of art all started with potatoe printing. I was taken with her name canvas’ and was very happy when Kim agreed to make Emmy (Emily) her very own personalised canvas.
I was able to choose which children’s item I wanted from her range which is for sale on a lovely site Not on the High Street. I chose a personalised initial and name canvas. I gave Kim the name I wanted printed on the canvas and Kim asked which colours I wanted it painted in. She is able to match colours to your room and has even been known to colour match exactly by using a tester paint sample send to her, which I think is a lovely touch.
I chose purple and pinks, I wasn’t too sure which room I would put it in – i’m hoping to move it into her bedroom at some point when I have changed her into her new bedroom and decorated it – that’s on my to-do-list. Maybe next year!! For now she is fine in the Nursery.
Here is Emmy’s canvas hanging in her playroom area of our front room.
