SONGMICS Storage Ottoman: Review & Giveaway

Storage is always something we need more of in this house, and I am sure I’m not alone. The kid’s toys which can’t be stored in their rooms, and teddies which just seem to multiply – these are the things I never seem to have enough storage for and hate them being left all over the house.

Shoes are another one, they are supposed to be taken off at the door but it doesn’t always happen, then of course, when it is time to walk out of the door the kids can never find them and it becomes my problem otherwise we are all late.

I know my home will never be a show home, it is far too over cluttered and resembles more of a toy shop than a home but by slowly adding a few more storage options to the house to hide them away, and a continued declutter while the kids are in school I will finally get it looking neat and tidy again (hopefully).

Recently we were sent a lovely storage ottoman from Songmics and it has certainly helped to clear away some of the clutter in Emmy’s room. In fact, I love it so much I have ordered another for my room and I’m thinking one would also fit nicely in the front room too which could then double up as a footstool and extra seating when we have guests over and would be perfect for storing our blankets in which are used for those cooler evenings (or to hide away the biscuits from the kids)

The storage ottoman is a lovely size – 76 x 38 x 38 cm and can hold up to 80L which is a LOT of storage. It could be used to store bedding, towels or even your winter clothes now the sun finally has it’s hat on. We have used it to store some of Emmy’s doll’s blankets, dolls clothes and teddies – all of which were just stored next to her bed making the room look rather messy.

It also doubles up as a dolls bed – with the lid off, of course, Emmy isn’t a cruel Mummy to her babies.

It has a hinged lid which can be opened from either side for easy meaning you don’t have to remove the entire lid to take things out or put them back inside.

This ottoman also has a padded top which can be used as a seat and when not in use, you can remove the card bottom insert and the whole thing folds flat and could be stored under the sofa or at the side of a wardrobe.

Available in Grey, Dark Grey or Dark Brown, these retail at £31.99 and would look great in any room.

Setting up is very simple, just insert the bottom panel into the base to secure the form and place on the lid. This is lightweight but also very sturdy and can hold my weight seated on it easily.

  1. we haven’t got enough storage. Suitcases are used to store out of season clothing etc, which is fine until you actually need to go anywhere!

  2. I currently have my bedding for my spare bed in bags on top of the wardrobe, which is not ideal as they get dusty. An ottoman would be great as I could put it at the foot of the spare bed and it would be a useful seat as well as storage.

  3. We do have some Ikea Kallax units/boxes but still have stuff lying aroung everywhere. I have to admit I’m fed up of it.

  4. I have to be very firm with myself – I use several piles – things to keep and use now ( this is where your prize would be so useful), store for the future (usually in the loft), good stuff goes to several of our local charity shops for resale – and rubbish gets recycled wherever possible…

  5. Nowhere! I need somewhere. I have a distinct lack of storage for anything. At the moment the floor of the spare bedroom is the dumping ground.

  6. With difficulty, everything seems to be multiplying behind my back. I do have some underbed storage in the boys room for board games and some stylish baskets in our bedroom on top of the wardrobe

  7. We have a whole playroom full of toys, it can get overwhelming at tidy up time! We just have clearly marked drawers so everyone knows where things go!

  8. I store things in clear plastic boxes at the moment. It’s very helpful for finding things, but it doesn’t look so neat.
