Stokke Xplory in new Classic Black – A closer first look

Have you ever stalked the postman unsure which day your AMAZING parcel will arrive?  For a few days I was on edge, every knock, ring and letter sent me flying to the door like a love sick teenager.

Because this beauty was arriving.  This beauty is a Stokke Xplory V4 with new Classic Black textiles.

I mean even the box is pretty and screams exciting doesn’t it?
Inside the box everything is packaged with the greatest care, as you would expect.  All fitting compactly into a relatively small box. A little like a game of Tetris, things slotted and slidded into their correct spaces.
In the box are:
Seat unit inc. foot rest
Bumper bar
Shopping bag
Rain cover
Mosquito net
New-born insert and wedge
Instruction manual/users guide

This pushchair is completely different to any I have used before, the fold is SO different to what I am used to however it is all SO intuitive that from unboxing to taking this for it’s first outing took less than 10 minutes.  The only assembly required was to zip on the hood and attach the seat unit and the shopping bag – then it is ready to go, with no rocket science, engineering degree or a stiff drink required – even the wheels are already attached and ready to roll.

The seat is height is adjusted by removing the seat unit and moving
the wishbone shaped lever up or down – you can change the
seat position by 12cm

To unfold the chassis unit you need to pull back the grey tab and pull up on the ring behind the central stay, the back wheel will then start to unfold (you may need to give them a little help) and then they click into place.

To move the handle bar up you use the white tab at the back of the handles – Pull up the tab and then either push down to lower or pull up the heighten
You can now add the seat unit, this is a very simple case of clicking onto the frame.  It can be parental facing or world facing.
To use in parent pacing mode you need to have the foot rest removed – just pull the lever under this and pull off.  Attach the seat unit – you will know if you have done this correctly as the red indicator changes to green when securely placed.
The foot rest can then be reattached around the central stay and you are ready to go!
Folding I is just as easy, remove the seat unit (if parental facing), slide the handle bar down as low as you can, then pull the grey tab back on top of the ring, lift up the chassis and press the bottom of the big grey button on the back of the frame.  Let the wheels fold towards the front and click into place.

You can then fold the handle back under itself to reduce the size (tab located under the handle bar)

I’ll have a full review post coming soon, sharing our thoughts – good and bad on this pushchair and looking at it in further detail but for now I’ll leave you with this video:
