Things I will/won’t miss about being pregnant

I’m pretty sure I only want 2 children (don’t quote me on that as a Girl is allowed to change her mind don’t you know!), and I know that Paul only wants 2 children….however that could also change, however today I have been thinking about pregnancy and wondering what I will miss about being pregnant.

Here is what I’ve come up with:

I will miss –

  • The first flutters of movement from inside
  • The massive great kicks
  • Being able to raid the fridge at silly o’clock without feeling guilty
  • Getting Paul to lift things for me
  • Getting cravings at silly o’clock and Paul heading out to buy them for me
  • Big boobs!
  • Not worrying if I look fat in clothing – I look pregnant and huge in everything and love it
  • Wearing pyjama bottoms all day long because that’s all that is comfy
  • Emmy putting her head on my tummy or her hand to feel baby moving
  • Emmy saying “Baby……is her best friend” (I’m sure that will change when he steals her toys)
  • Having a lay-in or an afternoon nap because I can
  • Getting a seat on the tube

and with things I miss also comes things I will NOT miss:

  • Being sick
  • Waking up for a wee all night long, actually weeing all day long
  • No clothes fitting
  • Being uncomfy all day and night
  • Not sleeping
  • SPD
  • Heartburn
  • Needing mashed potatoe and salad cream sandwiches at 2am
  • Drinking my body weight in chocolate milkshake
  • Leaking/sore boobs
  • Not being able to walk upstairs without getting out of breath
  • Strange cravings
  • Nesting!!
  • Nosebleeds
  • The worry of miscarriage – it makes you disbelieve the whole pregnancy having been there many time before – I never believe I will have a take home baby until I leave the hospital carrying my precious baby in my arms
  • The are you having a natural birth question/C-section question

Is there anything you miss about being pregnant and what do you not miss?  I would love to know.

  1. Hmmm number two! I had two horrendous pregnancies when I suffered from hyperemesis and was sick all the way through (and afterwards for a few days with number two). So, although I loved knowing the baby was there, it wasn't the best time….Afterwards was much better!

  2. The only thing I miss about being pregnant is having an excuse not to be on a diet! That sounds really awful, but it's true. If I have another I want to be one of those women who don't realise they're pregnant until they're in labour 🙂

  3. Hmmm Pregnancy 1 i had massive hemorrhages every few weeks followed by being hospitalised for a week at a time and a very early baby. Pregnancy 2 I had such low blood pressure I could not walk across the room without support. My skin looked great though!

  4. I absolutely loved being pregnant and even the times where I was totally fed up with going sick so often where overshadowed by how much I loved being pregnant. I miss it a lot and really hope that one day I will be pregnant again. I whole heartedly agree about feeling the first flutters and then massive kicks x
