We all need a girls night out or a weekend away from time to time. Friends, especially female friends, are essential for our personal growth. So why don’t you treat the girls to a memorable weekend? I can’t think of a better option than London for planning an unforgettable trip with your friends, for me and my friends it’s local and cutting back on travelling time is always a bonus as it gives me more time to have fun. Needing a good weekend away myself I have added a few favourite things to do in London which should include something for everyone….lets face it, if and when I finally get my much needed weekend away with the girls we will mainly be catching up on some sleep, eating hot food and then enjoying a few drinks safe in the knowledge the kids won’t be waking us up.
All of these attractions can be found on London Pass and its my top tip that you check that out because you’re going to make a huge saving!! Leaving you with no excuses to treat the girl squad in the British capital. Oh, and it also includes some options for you to spend the night at Mayfair, London’s most exclusive neighbourhood, but don’t worry, there’s an option for every budget.
- London Bicycle Tour
Start your day with a fun group activity organised by the London Tour Bicycle Company. You and your girls will be able to enjoy the beauty of London by cycling away from the traffic and visiting iconic landmarks in the city. They offer the option to choose between a classic cycle bike and a mountain one, so every member of the group will have an option to choose from. Plus, helmets and safety equipment are included. You won’t have to worry about anything but having a great time with your friends.
- Tower of London
Awarded as the top attraction in London, the Tower of London is a must-see building. Especially when you’re travelling with the girls. Join the Beefeaters for a guided tour and relish the elegance of the Queen’s Crown Jewels, which you’ll be able to see here. The Beefeaters not only act as tour guides, they’re also in charge of guarding the jewels.
- Tower Bridge Exhibition
Prepare to take that perfect Instagram shot at the glass floor walkway. Its panoramic views will let you experience London in a unique way. From its 42 metres above the river, you might be able to catch the bascules rising to the let the boats pass. It also features interactive information panels where you’ll be able to learn the history of the bridge, and probably get that perfect quote for your breath taking pictures.
- Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre
While in London, you must pay a visit to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. Visit its open air stage, a reconstruction of the building where Shakespeare wrote many of his plays. There aren’t microphones nor speakers or spotlights, so the audience can have an authentic experience of a Shakespearean play. Just close your eyes and transport yourself to a romantic tragedy like Romeo and Juliet.
Well, girls, it’s time to go to Mayfair, London’s top luxury neighbourhood.
For spending the night, our hotels options are Hilton London Green Park and The Washington Mayfair Hotel. But if you want to sleep on a budget, you can stay at the YHA London Oxford Street, near Mayfair. If you rather have a girls’ sleepover, you can book an Airbnb, which offers an option for every budget.
- Handel & Hendrix London
After your morning coffee, head to this hidden gem in the heart of Mayfair. Step back in time and discover the life of two iconic musicians. First, you’ll travel 250 years back in time by exploring George Frideric Handel’s music rooms, where he used to composed, rehearsed and even performed with the top baroque musicians of the time. On the third floor of the museum, you’ll be able to go back to a time of social, fashion and music revolution, the 1960’s. Visit the first place Jimi Hendrix ever called home, where he used to wrote his music.
- Royal Mews
Open your eyes and enjoy the radiant Gold State Coach, used at every coronation since 1821, at the finest working stable in the world. It holds the royal collection of coaches and carriages. The Royal Mews offer guided tours for visitors to learn the stable’s history and its relationship with the British monarchy.
- The Queen’s Gallery
It’s a must-see for art lovers. The Queen’s Gallery holds an astounding collection of different art pieces and secret royal treasures. It has a permanent space for changing exhibitions. Because of its popularity, the Gallery recommend visitors to visit it in the afternoons.
- Curzon Cinema Soho
After these two touristic days, now it’s time to let your hair down. At Curzon Cinema Soho you’ll find a historical bar where you’ll be able to relax and enjoy a drink while waiting for your film to start. And, there’s also free Wi-Fi at the bar, so you can upload those amazing pics from your unforgettable weekend.
