We’re going on a Gruffalo hunt, going to catch a big one!

We’re going on a Gruffalo hunt
We’re going to catch a big one
What a beautiful day
We’re not scared!
Welly boots on
Coats done up
Hats, gloves and scarves
Map in hand
Off we go!
Oh no a forest
A deep dark forest
We can’t go over it
Can’t go under in
We’ll have to go through it
Stumble trip, stumble trip, stumble trip
Oh look a squirrel
Where?
Up in the tree
How did he get there?
What else can you see?
We’re going on a Gruffalo hunt
We’re going to catch a big one
What a beautiful day
We’re not scared!
Oh no puddles
We can’t go over them
Can’t go under them
We’ll have to splash in them
Splish splosh, splish, splosh, splish splosh
Oh look, a Mouse
Where?
Over there on that stump
How did he get there?
What else will we see?
We’re going on a Gruffalo hunt
We’re going to catch a big one
What a beautiful day
We’re not scared!
Oh no trees!
We can’t go over them
Can’t go under them
We’ll have to climb them!
Higher and higher and higher still
Where has that fox gone?
He should be over this hill!…Oh well
Shhhh I can hear a hiss in the trees uphead
Hello Snake
Trampling through the forest
To see what else we find
Shhhh I hear a whisper
Who can this be?
We’re going on a Gruffalo hunt
We’re going to find a big one
What a beautiful day
We’re not ………ARRGGHHHHH
We had a great family fun day out at Thorndon Country Park in Brentwood,  Essex going on a Gruffalo hunt.  We spent all day outside with the dog too and spent a grand total of £2.70 all day! I highly recommend to anyone close enough to visit.  Take a picnic, wrap up warm and find all your children’s favourite characters in the deep dark woods.

  1. Looks great – my children loved the Gruffalo and other Julia Donaldson books when they were younger!

  2. What a great day of fun outdoors – all at such a reasonable price too! This must be such a popular place for families and I'm sure the children enjoy finding the characters and the freedom of the forest. Thanks for linking up and sharing your fun with Country Kids.
