Which Car is Right for You?

It can be daunting to enter the car market when you consider the number of vehicle classes, makes and models available. With such great variation it can be hard to know what is best for your particular needs and to find the perfect vehicle – here is a quick guide to identifying the right type of vehicle for your needs.

Young/New Drivers

If you are just beginning your driving career then your needs will be different to other types of motorist. In most cases, you will want a small, not particularly powerful and basic vehicle which will make it both cheap to buy and run. City cars and hatchbacks are ideal for this group and there are many fantastic automobiles to consider for new drivers. The used car market is a great place to find these particularly at places like AA Cars. A few popular brands for this group include Skoda, Peugeot, and Vauxhall.

Professionals

Typically, professionals will want a vehicle that is highly reliable as they will need to use this car to commute from Monday to Friday. In addition to reliability, style and comfort are also key factors with this group so you will often see professionals driving desirable brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi. Saloon and executive models tend to be favoured by professionals but you may also see them driving hatchbacks if living and working in the city too. If they do not have a family, it is also common for a professional to spend their money on some form of roadster or sports car as they do not need something as practical as a family, for example.

Families

Families have very particular needs when it comes to vehicles. They need something that is large enough to transport their kids and storage will also be key, but a good family car will also be comfortable, economical and have a high safety rating. SUVs and estates are both good options, but there are even excellent hatchbacks that can work well for young families that are living in the city and looking for something a bit more practical. Ford, Vauxhall, and Nissan are all good family brands.

Older Drivers

It can be more complex for older motorists as it will depend on their living situation and needs from the automobile. Typically, a practical, reliable and economical city car or hatchback will suffice but it will depend on the individual and what their preference is.

These are the main groups to consider, but if you do not fall into any of these categories then you need to think about your needs from the vehicle along with your budget and lifestyle. It should not be too challenging to find one that will fit in perfectly with your particular lifestyle and provide you with many happy years of motoring until your lifestyle changes again and you require a different vehicle type.
