World book day costumes from Joke.co.uk #AD

Both my children absolutely love stories. Bedtime stories are a special time in our household, a way to calm down for the evening, snuggle up together and enjoy each others company.

I first introduced bedtime stories when they were babies, of course, they couldn’t understand what I was reading and it could have been anything at all, a newspaper, magazine or even one of my books but I always stuck with children’s stories so they could enjoy the pictures as well as the words.

As toddlers, I took them to storytime at the library as a way for them to continue our love of books and to interact with other children.

Their love of books has grown with them, with Emmy often reading Harry a bedtime story which is just the cutest thing ever.

There were the months on end when all they loved were Peppa Pig stories, but even that didn’t deter our evening story ritual, even if it did lead a hatred of Peppa Pig by myself. Thankfully they grew out of this awful love of that pink family and both moved on to the classics.

Emmy now has shelves full of The Secret Seven adventures, all the Famous Five books,  all the Roald Dahl books, my old Paddington books and of course her favourite David Walliams, of which she has his entire collection.

With World Book Day fast approaching she wanted only one outfit to add to her dressing-up wardrobe.

Can you guess who she is?

Of course, she is Gansta Granny and doesn’t she look fantastic.

This outfit is from Joke.co.uk and is one of the many David Walliams characters they have available.

This outfit consists of a floral skirt, blouse with attached cardi design, a faux pearl necklace, grey curly wig, eye mask, a swag bag and glasses.

Now we couldn’t leave Harry out and opted for a character from one of his current favourite books… Alice in Wonderland.

Doesn’t he make a very handsome White Rabbit?

This outfit consists of a jacket and a bib style piece to look like a shirt, bow tie and jacket. It has a rabbit headpiece which fastens under the chin and even a pocket watch which attaches with velcro.

Do your children love books? Is their school joining in with World Book Day?

I’d love to see some photos of your children dressed up, please feel free to share them on my Facebook page or tweet them to me.
