From the outside looking in, this is encouraging news to anyone who wants to work in OH’s realty industry. But what if you have a 9-5 job with limited time after work to attend lessons? Worry not because you can now study and get your Ohio real estate license online. 

Tick the Eligibility Prerequisites

Ensure that you are familiar with the prerequisites before you start your search for online realty programs in OH. As usual, you must be 18 years old and above. Those born before 1950 can enrol in the pre-licensing program without a high school diploma. 

But if you are not a pre-1950 baby, a high school equivalency certificate or diploma is a must-have. Last, you must be a legal citizen with a clean criminal record. Any civil rights violations or misdemeanours within the past two years will discredit your eligibility. 

Enroll in a Pre-Licensing Program

The first thing you must do is look for schools offering real estate courses accredited by the state’s real estate department. Take your time and read reviews or ask for recommendations from friends working as realtors or brokers. 

The program is 120 hours long and covers various topics and subjects related to real estate. For example, you will learn about property law, writing appraisals, and finance options available for homeowners.

Review the school’s curriculum and ensure that the study plans complement your learning style. Ensure that the school offers more than just notes and recorded lecture videos. Does the school offer interactive one-on-one sessions where you can consult the instructor and ask questions?

Sit For the Exams

Besides a few people, we all dread exams. Exam fever is normal, but don’t let it hamper your chances of acing the test. Registration is done online via the eLicense Center. All you need to do is create an account and provide all of the necessary information, including documents to prove you finished the pre-licensing program.

Exams are administered online by PSI. You have three hours to attempt the 120 questions. The questions are split into forty state questions and eighty covering national topics, with the pass mark set at 70% for each section.

Final Step

You must find a sponsoring broker before applying for your realtor’s license in OH. We recommend searching for a sponsoring broker earlier before registering for the exam. Remember the eLicense account you created before? That is where you need to go for your license application.

There are fees involved at this stage. Upload copies of all required documents and review your application before hitting the submit button. Review and approval of your application will take a few days.
