Gamer girl: creating a gaming room for your daughter

If your daughter loves playing video games, you may want to think about how changing the room around her could allow her to partake in her hobby a little easier. Whether you understand or enjoy video games or not, it can be important to support your children in things they take an interest in. Basing her room around technology and comfort could allow her to really have fun with the different games she plays. It may also make her more amenable to taking breaks and spending some time with the family if she knows that you want her to have fun.

Set up great lighting

Your daughter may not want bright lights on when she’s gaming, especially if she really wants to set the scene. You may want to think about adjusting the lighting so that she is able to dim it if she wishes. Alternatively, you might also want to think about using a variety of LED strip lighting throughout her room. LED strip lights could go around either the ceiling or skirting boards, as well as where she often sits to game. One of the benefits of these is that you could potentially set them to be the same colour as her gaming station, or the LED lights found in her computer, to really bring everything together. 

Install a desk

It can be useful to have a dedicated area within the bedroom where your daughter can use her computer. To achieve this, it may be a good idea to put a desk in her room. Should her room lack space, you may want to think about opting for a more compact design. A folding chair with adequate support could also be helpful. When allowing your daughter to have her computer in her bedroom, you may want to think about ensuring it has some level of protection on, especially if she plays games that involve interaction with other people. 

Wall mount the television

Not all video gaming is done on a computer. Your daughter may also enjoy a bit of console gaming. Should this be the case, you may want to think about how she can remain comfortable and a safe distance away from the television. If you don’t have shelving that the television can sit on, you may instead want to consider mounting it on the wall. This could help to reduce clutter and give the room a more spacious feel. When doing so, you may first want to check what type of wall the unit will be hung on, to make sure that you are using the correct brackets and fittings for the job.

A gamer girl may appreciate having a space where she can play her games in peace, while still being able to maintain good posture and eyesight. As long as your daughter is safe when playing games, and still gets her school work and chores done, you may want to think about adapting her room to make the playing of games more of a priority.
