back to school stationery giveaway e1561068740988

Back to School Ready | Stationery Giveaway | CLOSED

Posted on June 21, 2019February 13, 2020

It’s that time of year when our children and their lovely teachers are exhausted. They are all counting down to the end of the school year, while busily preparing for the start of the new one.

Harry has already started to count down the weeks until he leaves year 1 and joins year 2 which means that the teachers will have been discussing it and preparing the children for the changes which will be happening rather soon.

Depending on what year your child is in they may have just finished their exams, be that SATS, their GCSE’s or it could have been their Phonics which Harry has just done. Whichever exams or tests they have been studying hard for they do take their toll on our children and the holidays can’t come quick enough for them….even if us parents may be tearing our hair out at the thought of 6 – 7 weeks of them being home.

If you are wondering what to do with the kids while they are home, things which won’t cost the earth then you can find a few ideas for indoor activities here, as you know it’s bound to rain at some point, or if the sun does shine here are some outdoor activity ideas.

As I work from home, the summer holidays are really hard for me as I need to entertain the children BUT still have to be able to work when it comes in, otherwise, my bills don’t get paid and the children wouldn’t have the days out they enjoy and need so that cabin fever doesn’t hit us all.

Do you have any summer holiday plans yet?

We are planning a few days out as our big family holiday isn’t until October, so far we have planned:

  • A day trip to Legoland, with a possible overnight stay if I can find a great deal
  • A day trip to Chessington
  • A visit to Diggerland
  • A few day trips to London, we love the south bank so will head there. Then there are the Museums – most are free which is a bonus and the kids love them as much as we do
  • A theatre trip
  • Cinema
  • Picnics in the park
  • Meeting friends – even those who aren’t all that local, we tend to book in a day in advance and then meet up half way

While it may seem a long way off, I also like to get sorted for back to school way in advance, there is nothing worse than leaving it all to the last minute is there? The queues in the shoe shops, the running out of your child’s shirt size in nearly every store and then there is the need for wanting a new school bag and new stationery too.
