Finding something that actually works for both freezing winter mornings and those unbearable sticky summer nights always feels like a bit of a gamble… especially when you’re trying to keep costs down and not fill your house with bulky appliances.
So when I got the chance to try the Vortex Air™ Pro Bladeless Tower Fan Heater & Cooler, I was genuinely curious to see if it could actually do both jobs well – or if it would be one of those “jack of all trades, master of none” situations.
This Fan Heater & cooler comes in 12 different colourway options so there is something to suit all colour schemes within your home and costs £159.99 (mine is the quick silver colourway)
First impressions
Straight out of the box, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s far sleeker than a traditional fan or heater – really modern looking and something that doesn’t scream “appliance” when it’s sitting in the corner of the room.
It’s also bladeless, which for me is a huge plus. With kids (even older ones!), pets, and just general day-to-day life, I always prefer something a bit safer and easier to clean. No grills full of dust or awkward blades to worry about.
Setup was quick and simple – no faffing about, which is always a win.
Using it day-to-day

What I’ve really liked is how easy it is to use. It comes with a remote control (which I’ve already lost twice… is anyone actually surprised by that? The kids certainly weren’t), but you can also control everything directly from the actual unit.
What you have:
- 10 speed settings
- Heating options (low, medium, high)
- A timer (1–9 hours)
- Oscillation to spread the air around the room with 180 degree rotation
- Adjustable temperature up to around 35°C
It’s one of those things where once you’ve used it a couple of times, you don’t even think about it – you just press what you need, and it does its thing.
Vortex Air Pro Cooling Performance
Let’s be honest – this is probably what most of us care about.
On warmer days, it gives a really smooth airflow rather than that harsh “blast” you sometimes get from standard fans, and it’s much more comfortable to sit in front of, especially in the evenings.
I’ve used it in the bedroom, and it’s been good enough to take the edge off those stuffy, humid nights.
Why I Needed a Fan for Hot Flushes and Perimenopause
If I’m being completely honest, it’s been an absolute lifesaver recently. Being in my mid-40s, perimenopause is definitely creeping in, and the hot flushes seem to hit at the most inconvenient times — usually in the middle of the night, after I have settled down into bed after turning off the lights.
I’ve been keeping this on all night, and it’s made such a difference. It’s actually quieter than having the window open, so I’m not being woken up by outside noises, and I can just roll over and cool down quickly rather than lying there overheating. It’s one of those small things that has genuinely improved my sleep.
Noise-wise, it’s fairly quiet on lower settings, though you do notice it more if you crank it right up – but honestly, that’s the same with most fans.
Heating Performance: Can It Warm a Room Quickly?
This is where I was most sceptical… but actually, it surprised me.
It heats up quickly and takes the chill out of a room in minutes, which is perfect for those mornings when you don’t want to put the heating on for the whole house.
That said, I wouldn’t rely on it as your only heat source for a large room in the middle of winter – but as a top-up, it’s perfect, especially when you have had your morning shower and are getting dressed in your room and need a quick and instant heat blast.
The bits I’ve loved
- All-in-one design – no swapping between fan and heater
- Bladeless – safer and easier to clean
- Modern, compact look
- Great for night-time use (especially for hot flushes!)
- Quick to heat and cool
- Remote control (when you can find it!)
- Good range of settings to customise airflow
A couple of things to note

No product is perfect, and there are a few small things worth mentioning:
- On the highest setting, it can be a bit noisier
- It’s great for small to medium rooms, but less powerful for very large spaces
- Like most tower fans, you need to position it well to get the best airflow
If you’re looking for a fan for hot flushes, night sweats or perimenopause symptoms, this has honestly been one of the most useful appliances I’ve owned. Unlike some fans that feel harsh and drying overnight, the airflow feels much gentler, making it easier to leave running all night without feeling uncomfortable. For me, that’s been the biggest benefit during those middle-of-the-night hot flushes when sleep already feels impossible.
Is it worth it?
Honestly… I have to say YES!
If you’re anything like me and hate having separate appliances cluttering up the house, this ticks a lot of boxes. It’s one of those things that you end up using far more than you expected because it’s just there and easy.
Final thoughts
Would I recommend it? Yes — especially if you want something versatile, easy to use, and a bit more stylish than your standard fan or heater.
For me personally, it’s become more than just a “nice to have”. Between our unpredictable British weather and those middle-of-the-night hot flushes, it’s something I now rely on daily.
And anything that helps me sleep better and means I don’t have to listen to the outside world through an open window all night is a definite win.
Is the Vortex Air Pro fan heater good for hot flushes?
Yes – I’ve found it really helpful at night. The airflow is gentle but effective, and it’s quiet enough to leave on while I’m sleeping.
Can the Vortex Air Pro replace central heating?
Not completely, but it’s great for quickly warming smaller rooms or taking the chill off without turning the heating on.
Is the Vortex Air Pro noisy?
On lower settings, it’s quiet enough for bedrooms. Higher settings are louder, which is the same with all fans I have tried.
