Creative Ways To Save Space In Your Private Rental

Posted on September 1, 2021

**Collaborative post**

When renting, one of the biggest priorities is maximising space. This comes at a premium, but using creative and innovative solutions, it’s possible to make the most of all your rental home has to offer…

Choose a spacious rental

Just because you’re renting, doesn’t mean you can’t live in a luxuriously spacious home. Find an apartment that offers you the premium of space, so that you don’t have to be making compromises from the offset. Moda Living, Angels Gardens in Manchester offers stunning interiors that have been designed to perfection, offering sublimely bright and spacious apartments.

Flexible furniture

Modular furniture is ideal for rentals, offering you the opportunity to mix and match to make the most of a room’s configuration. For example, a modular sofa offers the potential to switch up the layout to maximise floor space. Optimal storage, such as Ikea’s modular shelving and wardrobe systems, will provide the necessary space to declutter the apartment and make the overall flat feel much larger. Make the most of even the most awkward nooks and crannies with stacked boxes or hooks to hang items so they’re kept off surfaces or off the floor.

Declutter

Marie Kondo wasn’t wrong with her philosophy on creating a clean, calm environment. Your surroundings can have a huge impact on your mood and mental wellbeing, so tidy away items left out around your home, and take the opportunity when organising your storage to remove items for giving to charity shops. Your unwanted items can find a new lease of life, and you’ll be free from the burden of burgeoning cupboards and drawers!

Creating the illusion of space

Mirrors are instant winners for creating the optical illusions of extra space – they’ll double the room and make it feel much more open. If you’re worried about attaching to a wall, then simply propping one up against a wall will do the trick, or choose furniture with built-in mirrors. Even gloss finish furniture will help to reflect light around a room and create the same feeling of spaciousness.

Clare

Hi, I'm Clare (Emmy's Mummy). A former Nanny and Mother of 2 - Emmy (born February 2010) and Harry (born October 2012). We are Essex based and share our adventures and misadventures of a busy crazy life.

About Me

Hi, I’m Clare – Mum to Emmy and Harry, ex-nanny and the writer behind Emmy’s Mummy. Based in Essex, I share honest tales of family life, parenting teens, top tips from a former nanny and our love of adventures, food, and UK staycations. We’re always up for exploring – whether it’s a trip into London, a caravan break, or just getting outdoors with a picnic. This blog blends my nannying experience with the everyday chaos of raising tweens and teens. Thanks for joining us!
