Raising Kids in Australia: What You Need to Know

Posted on September 1, 2021

**Collaborative post**

Australia is a sunny, happy country and a truly wonderful place to raise your children. No matter where in Aus you might choose to settle down, it’s an easy, fun and homey environment for little ones to grow up and learn and experience the beauties that life has to offer. From having fun at the beautiful beaches to the top-notch education, you can’t go wrong with starting a family here.

We’ve rounded up a few things to think about when you’re considering starting a family in Australia.

Nutrition

When you’re a mom, providing for your kids is at the very top of your to-do list and a good, wholesome, nutritious diet is a foundation for growth and development. Access to whole foods and great, organic produce in Australia is unbeatable and you can be sure that you and your family will always have an abundance of locally grown fruit and veg to fill your bodies. If you have little ones and aren’t breastfeeding, Alula baby formula in Australia is an amazing local brand to supplement or replace breastmilk and help your baby grow happily.

Learning

In Australia, your kids will be getting a world-class education. Government schools offer a high standard of learning and are free for citizens and permanent residents, which means as a parent, you won’t need to break a sweat worrying about how to pay for your children to get a good education. Aside from institutionalised learning though, there are so many natural beauties and cultural experiences for your kids to learn and experience as they grow up.

Activity

Australia is an extremely active and outdoorsy nation. It’s the perfect environment for you and your kids to live a healthy, active lifestyle. Sports at school, hiking, surfing, swimming, you name it! Thanks to the beautiful climate, outdoor activities and sports are always in season and there are a million different adventures to be had as a family. Movement is encouraged and celebrated in Australia, so you probably won’t be raising a couch potato!

Healthcare

Australia has a universal health insurance scheme that allows Australians (and even some overseas visitors) access to a wide range of health services at little to no cost. You can rest at ease knowing that your children are going to be provided for in terms of their health care, even if certain medical expenses don’t fit into your usual budget. However, there are also great private health insurance plans that you can look into if you prefer not to use public services.

The Takeaway

Raising children in Australia is a journey like no other. If you’re a family that loves outdoor adventures and new experiences every weekend, choosing this country as a place to raise your kids is a great decision. It’s a place where you know that you and your family are taken care of, with loads of opportunities for your kids to learn and grow in different ways each day, whether physically, academically, or culturally.
