Radiator style and design has evolved a lot in recent years, as we’ve moved away from the chunkier models of the past, and embraced new solutions that are both more stylish and efficient. And aluminium radiators are definitely one of the most exciting new trends emerging in the market.

They’re a lot more heat efficient
One of the advantages of using aluminium to make radiators is that the metal is a much better conductor, compared to white pressed steel. While steel was the conventional material of choice for years, aluminium radiators will heat up much faster, and so they require a lot less energy to get a room feeling warm.
As they’re such fast conductors, aluminium will also cool down much more quickly. However, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing when it comes to radiators, as it means you can enjoy a more even and comfortable temperature overall in your home. Instead of waiting for hours for a cold room to heat up, or suffering from a stuffy and over-heated room when it gets too hot, you can enjoy being in that perfect in-between zone, where it feels just right. When looking into new heating options you may start looking at other options at the same time such as how much a new boiler cost will set you back.
They’re longer lasting
Conventional steel radiators are often susceptible to rust and corrosion, even with regular treatments to prevent or flush out any build up of rust. Aluminium however already has a protective layer of oxide, which minimises the risk of corrosion.
However, it’s still worth taking precautions and using a corrosion inhibitor, as there will be other parts of your heating system that are made of other metals, which may still be at risk of rusting.
They’re more environmentally friendly
Aluminium can be the more environmentally friendly choice for radiators for a number of reasons. Firstly, as they take less energy to heat up, this means you’ll need to use less gas for your boiler. They also tend to use less water through the system, again minimising your consumption of energy and other resources.
But that’s not all. Once they’ve come to the end of their lifespan, they can easily be taken apart, recycled and turned into something else.
They’re light and stylish
As the material for these radiators is much lighter overall, it’s far easier and quicker to install an aluminium model. Not only will this save time and money on installation costs – it also means that you can enjoy more versatile style solutions.
