Kids, they are expensive, aren’t they? They grow like weeds at times, I swear there have been times when I’ve put Emmy and Harry to bed and they appear to have woken up almost a foot taller than the night before. This means they need new clothes and eat even more if that’s even possible.
Factor in days out to the cinema, zoo, theatre, play centre, etc, and often us parents can feel like we need to take out a bank loan or remortgage the house in order to have a fun day out with the children. Thankfully there are often deals out there which can save us a pretty penny BUT what if you are a single parent? These deals really don’t work out for them at all as they are geared up to 2 parent families in order to receive the biggest discounts, even many holiday companies make single parents pay a supplement which is ridiculous as there are fewer people on that holiday.
Personally, I just don’t think it is fair that there aren’t more ‘family’ options available especially as families aren’t always 2:4 anymore, they come in all shapes and sizes.
With one in four families being single parents, that in itself should show that there is a real need for better ‘family’ options when it comes to money saving deals, especially when one-third of children with a working single parent live in poverty and 1 in 10 single parents having to take out payday loans or use food banks in order to just get by.
We have yet another school holiday coming up, so now is the time to start searching out the best deals to save us some money, Payplan have created an infographic which shows some of the financial pitfalls of being a single parent.
