How to style with earrings as a busy working mum

**Collaborative post**

Earrings are the one accessory that always makes me feel put together. To be honest, I am lost and all out of whack without them!

But being a busy working mum, there is always something to do. Namely housework, business meetings, dropping the kids off at school, coffee with the girls, playdates, grocery shopping or client visits. And sometimes it can be a challenge just to know what to wear.

That is why earrings are an important part of any woman’s attire. As they make them feel like a much better version of themselves.

Even when your hair hasn’t been washed in days, you’ve got your daggy ‘comfy’ outfit on and little miss Kate spilt her morning Weetabix on your top, the right choice of earrings can instantly uplift your appearance.

But how do you choose which earrings are the most appropriate to wear for your outfit at any given time?

In this article, we will attempt to show you how to style yourself with earrings as a busy working mum. Follow these tips and you will never feel lost again – whatever you decide to put on.

Why are earrings important?

From studs to statement earrings, accessories like these can make all the difference to your look.

As a working mum, you will have a particular sense of fashion that makes you feel capable, comfortable and confident. Whether you are wearing it in the park, playing with the kids or doing your 9 to 5 at the office.

But with the addition of earrings, you can make even more of a positive impression. It is also a great way to elevate your whole mood and give yourself a confidence boost.

With so much of your time and energy being consumed every day just by doing mum activities – let alone your office obligations, it can be easy to fall into the trap of wearing the same outfits repetitively.

Whether you wear them to create a positive impression at work on your clients and colleagues. Or to showcase your own personal style with your friends, earrings are important because slipping on the right ones can make you sparkle, whatever you wear.

For instance, a set of classic hoops can add a touch of elegance that can elevate a regular leggings ensemble. Similarly, a fun pair of dangly earrings can spruce up a classic yet boring all-black work outfit.

Which type of earrings to style with your clothes

Want to know what earrings to wear with which type of clothes?

Here are a few suggestions of trendy ways to style your look when you’re a busy mum. Follow these tips and you will be a complete fashionista without jeopardising comfort, on any given occasion.

Business attire

Unlike other spheres of your life, the rules are a bit different in the workforce. So, when selecting earrings to wear with your business clothes, it is important to choose a pair that is not too distracting.

The office and in particular business meetings are places where your professionalism and expertise need to shine. Therefore, any earrings you choose to wear should be a subtle and complimentary accessory to your look and allude to confidence and success.

In this respect sterling silver or gold works very well. Especially if they are studs or small hoops.

Leggings and a Knit

When wearing leggings, go for one with a printed, pattern or vibrant colours with a neutral knit or vice versa.

You can even enhance the look with ankle boots or classic flats and a pair of gemstone studs to make a splash.

Denim Jackets and Dresses

Nothing beats a cute dress in crisp solids or luxurious patterns, especially when it is teamed with a timeless denim jacket.

Best of all, these flawless looks compliments all body shapes. So, whether you go for the straight cut, or a flowy style when out and about, this ensemble is both stylish and relaxed.

When wearing it, why not add a pair of statement earrings? Frankly, the more colourful, quirky and glamorous, the better.

Classics

Jeans, whether they be skinny, boot-cut or flared, are all simple staples that most women wear on a regular basis.

When paired with a funky top or a striped or patterned t-shirt, you will definitely create an effortlessly cool look which is a real winner.

To finish it off, throw on a classic pair of hoops. These can be small or extra-large, gold, rose gold, white gold, silver or embossed. In fact, pretty much any style or shape will do to create an instantly elegant look.

Similarly, a distressed pair of cropped pants (hello cargos!) teamed with an amazing top creates a fantastic look. Especially when accessorised with a soft, light scarf, a stunning shoulder bag, flats and a pair of gorgeous drop earrings.

Should you want to put on a pair of high-waisted, cut-off denim shorts. Why not match them with a button-down shirt, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and dangle earrings to give yourself a rock star mystique?

Wide Leg Pants

Want a really striking outfit?

Then jump into a cool tank top and striped pair of wide-leg pants with wedges that will really make you stand out.

To glam the look up further, throw on an elaborate shawl or military-style jacket and an intricate pair of lattice earrings.

Rompers and Jumpsuits

Who doesn’t love a romper or jumpsuit?

So wearable, adorable and just plain pretty, a fabulous romper in checks, solids, or patterns, are perfect for pretty much anywhere.

When combined with a pair of cute flats they are great for a romantic stroll in the park with hubby, hitting the beaches with the kids, or going for coffee with the girls. If wearing this look, keep your earrings simple, small and classic.

If you are heading to a party, why not make a real entrance with a jumpsuit in jewelled tones or even one that is embroidered? Slide on some strappy heels, a striking belt and some gorgeous sparkly earrings to complete the look.

Crop Tops and Skirts

For general occasions, why not pair a classic A-line midi skirt with a crop top in a stunning selection of colours that really pop?

This look can be complemented with lace-up heels, chunky bracelets, a big handbag and precious metal earrings for that big luxe style.

You can also bring out your inner stylista with a full-sleeved cut-shoulder top and tulip skirt for a really chic combination. Toss your hair up in a messy bun and minimal makeup for an ultra-modern outfit that will have everyone calling you a ‘yummy mummy!’.

Notes

As a time-poor mum, I hope this guide has been helpful for you when it comes to choosing which earrings to add to your ensemble.

At the end of the day earrings should be fun!

So, always use them to compliment your outfits and show off your own individual style and personality.

These style habits for busy mums are very easy for you to adapt.

If you do, you may even inspire other mums to take notes of your uncomplicated and amazing fashion sense and unleash their own inner fashionista too.

How cool would that be?
