K’NEX Thrill Rides Web Weaver Roller Coaster Review

The kids are at the age where they have outgrown the younger toys such as Duplo and are loving older construction type toys. They happily sit together playing with Lego and with Christmas coming up I am keen to build up our collection of building toys which we can all play together with.

Recently we received the K’NEX Thrill Rides Web Weaver Roller Coaster and the kids were rather excited to get it all set up, as was their Dad.

Due to the fact my children are 5 & 7 and lack any kind of patience and the fact this set has 439 pieces to it we made the executive decision to set it up while the children slept, well, Paul actually took on that task because in his words “That’s his job”. I must admit by then I had taken a look at the contents of the box and the instructions and I certainly wasn’t going to argue with him.

It turns out this was in fact the best decision as it was hard enough to construct without children ‘helping’ at the same time.

Setting this set up is relatively simple in terms of just following the diagram instructions, however, with so many steps to follow and so many pieces it does take a very long time.

When you begin setting this up it’s a good idea to charge the car, it takes around 30 minutes to fully charge.

The air-propelled coaster is equipped with a battery-powered motor that lets the car travel at high speed and through vertical and horizontal thrills.

It took around 3 hours for Paul to set this up, and he certainly regretted volunteering for that job.

When set up this is a very large toy which you won’t want to take back down in a hurry so I do suggest ensuring you have plenty of room.

With lots of twists and turns to this rollercoaster you can watch the air powered car whizz around the track, albeit rather noisily, much more so than I expected. The track is glow in the dark and can be connected to the tower in many different ways to create various track layouts.

This is aimed for children aged 9+ and has a RRP of £69.99

We’ve had a few niggles with this – if played with for a long period (longer than 8 or so minutes) we have found the propeller comes unattached and comes off, this then stops the car from working. To fix this you have to unscrew the end of the car and push the propeller back into place, this fixes the issue temporarily.

The children really enjoy this toy and find it hilarious watching the car spinning around the track and trying to stop it in a certain place with their hands but its definitely been a shorted lived item for them, they lost interest very quickly and it’s now back in the box and I won’t be volunteering to set it up again in a hurry
