Making Time For Mummy As Well

Posted on February 3, 2021September 21, 2021

**Collaborative post**

Throughout the course of 2020, though it has been tumultuous and unpredictable it has also in a sense been quite a reflective time. Perhaps it has made you stop and really think about whether you are in the right job that makes you happy, or whether you have achieved all the things you would like to do. This could be trying out a different career path, return to studying, learning a new skill or being creative. This is the year to follow through on what you want to do, as well as being super mummy.

Start a Creative Hobby

There might be a creative skill that either you used to do before you had children that you have not pursued in a while or you could begin one, such as painting on canvases, sewing, making clothes, creating ornaments or jewellery making. You might even find that you enjoy being creative, and could eventually sell them online through a website like Etsy to make a few extra pennies as well or to raise money for a much-needed charity.

Return to Studying

Perhaps an avenue to follow could be enrolling onto a medical school in order to complete a degree in medicine. You could find a course that you could perhaps do part-time in order to fit around your mum duties and homeschooling. There is much more flexibility with regards to studying from home now with a plethora of online courses.

Nature is Your Friend

If you have a garden, you could start growing some seasonal vegetables and fruit in order to get outside for a few hours a day and have something else to focus your attention on. The children can also help you out with this as it will be a nice break from studying or looking at a tv or laptop screen and give them a sense of responsibility too. Then you can create some lovely family meals with the produce you have created which is very satisfying.

Take the Time to Relax

Many mums may think it a bit selfish to take time away for some peace and quiet. Many of us feel it is our duty to watch after our family at all times, but let it be known that it is okay to steal away a few moments of stillness for yourself. A great way to find some quiet is to create a space that is all your own where you can be alone. Use the space to meditate, practice yoga, or rest your body from all the running around you do. Burn incense, place essential oils on your body like Simply CBD that will help relax you and melt away any muscle discomfort. 45-30 minutes a day before you family wakes up is all you will need to be energized and clear to take on the day.

Create Some Lovely Tasty Baked Goods

If you enjoy cooking and baking, perhaps find some time in the day to create something you do not do often such as pizza dough, bread, pancakes or a lovely sponge cake. Cooking can be such a therapeutic activity when you are not under stress or limited for time. It is a great skill to have and certainly something to share with your children so they can expand their taste buds and enjoy tasty, healthy, home-cooked meals.

As a busy stay at home mum, it is not always easy to balance everything. It can be very hectic with everyday domestic duties, now homeschooling two children, and creating, fun, non-screen time activities. But you also want to be able to make time for yourself and any activities you enjoy, which you can sometimes forget or brush aside when you are a busy super mum. So do not forget about your ambitions too in life.
