what is on offer in Rome

Roman holiday: what is on offer in Rome?

Posted on October 26, 2022April 15, 2023

**Collaborative post**

Going to Rome can allow you to really feel like you have gone back in time. There may be a number of monuments to view that show you what past life may have been like. Rather than making your whole trip about history, you may instead want to consider the different things that Rome offers. This could enable you to find excursions that match everyone’s different tastes, while both relaxing and educating yourselves. Depending on the time of year that you go, you may find certain options more alluring than others.

Visiting a religious city

While classed as its own state, the Vatican is incredibly close to Rome. Those who have strong religious beliefs, as well as people with a love of history, may want to consider visiting the Vatican when on holiday in Rome. You may want to be respectful when you go as, for some, visiting can be a part of paying respects to the Pope and their God, rather than just a destination on a sightseeing tour. This may include keeping noise to a minimum, and even ensuring that you are dressed appropriately. Should the Pope be in attendance, you may find that you are unable to enter certain parts of the area, or that it is incredibly packed. Due to this, you might want to plan the day you visit beforehand.

Take a shopping trip

Going to Rome doesn’t mean you need to spend all of your time visiting these monuments and places of interest. You might also want to consider doing a bit of shopping in Italy’s capital city. There may be a number of different shops on offer, from bespoke boutiques to designer outlets, depending on your budget. When shopping, you may want to consider how much space you have available in your suitcase. This could allow you to stock up on a few great items for your own home, and even find some beautiful souvenirs for your friends and family.

A day at the beach

Even though Rome may be a wonderful and large city, that doesn’t mean you need to stay in the area. There may be a number of beautiful beaches in the nearby towns. Children in particular may enjoy getting to run around on the sand and spend time in the water, especially if the weather is hot. When choosing a beach, you might want to consider some of the pros and cons of those around you. Those that are closest may have a fee payable for the luxury of visiting. Due to their location, they may also be far busier than their rural counterparts.

Taking a family holiday to Rome can hold excitement for everyone if you know where to look. Picking out some great historical monuments and places, as well as making time to unwind, could allow you to make the most of your stay. You may want to keep the ages of your children in mind as this could be quite a big factor in deciding what to do.
