It is difficult to get my children to participate in sports; neither of them is a fan. However, we all love being outdoors, and one of our family’s favourite pastimes is playing crazy golf. If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you already know that spending quality time with my kids, Emmy and Harry, is one of my top priorities.
For many years, we were season ticket holders and Ambassadors for Paradise Wildlife Park, and when the children were younger, there were times we would visit every single weekend, making good use of our passes by visiting as often as we could. Some weekends, I would just take the children there so they could burn off their energy in the soft play centre, especially if it was raining and getting them outside was harder.

As season ticket holders at Paradise Wildlife Park, we’ve had the privilege of exploring all its amazing attractions. But there’s something special about the crazy golf course that keeps drawing us back time and time again. Nestled amidst lush greenery and exotic animals, it’s the perfect setting for a fun-filled family outing and to get competitive as a family – as lets face it, I am not one to go easy on the children and let them win – where is the fun in that?
Emmy and Harry, being the competitive spirits that they are, always bring their A-game to the crazy golf course. From the moment we step up to the first hole, the friendly banter begins, and it’s game on! Watching them strategise and carefully line up their shots never fails to put a smile on my face. And let me tell you, these two can get super competitive – especially when it comes to sinking that elusive hole-in-one. But boy, they are also cheats too so you can NOT turn your back on them for even a minute!

But it’s not just about the competition; it’s about the laughter and camaraderie that comes with it. One of our favourite memories is the time Harry’s ball took an unexpected detour into the bushes and we spend more time search for the ball than we actually did playing the game itself. As we searched high and low for his lost ball, Emmy couldn’t help but tease him, saying, “Looks like the wildlife wanted to play too, Harry!” It’s moments like these that make our crazy golf adventures so memorable.

What I love most about crazy golf is its ability to bring our family together in a shared experience. Whether we’re navigating through winding tunnels or dodging tricky obstacles, we’re in it together, cheering each other on every step of the way. And let’s not forget the friendly wagers we make along the course – whoever gets the most holes-in-one gets to pick dinner for the night!
Playing crazy golf as a family can be a fantastic way to bond and create lasting memories together.
