Currently in the UK there are more cars around than ever, with the used car market rocketing in recent times, it’s clear to see that we are a nation of car lovers. With new cars and technology constantly hitting the market, it means that stylish and modern vehicles can still be purchased at a decent price second hand, but remain up-to-date, instead of the old banger you’d imagine when we say, ‘used car’.

In 2019, family cars have been especially popular and brands such as BMW and Mercedes have certainly been making sales in the UK. However, the classic brands Ford and Vauxhall still manage to remain in the charts. We’ve compiled a list of the most popular used cars of 2019 to give you some ideas if you’re looking for a change.

BMW

You’ll have noticed in recent years the rise of this prestigious German car brand on the UK roads, as they’ve become more and more popular with people of all ages. However, it’s the diesel models that have pushed ahead in the charts with the BMW 1 series topping the list as one of the most popular vehicles. The rise in the popularity of this car may be down to the new I series hitting the roads, making the older model a more affordable price. As well as the 1 series, the diesel 3 series and 5 series have also been popular this year as they are BMW classics that don’t seem to be going out of fashion anytime soon.

Mercedes-Benz

Having a good car has been very popular lately, which is why younger people are choosing brands such as BMW, Mercedes and Audi as their top choices. Mercedes-Benz have been doing particularly well in the used car market and in-particular the Mercedes-Benz A Class and C Class (diesel). These models can be extremely expensive when buying brand new, therefore buying second had at car auctions is a great way to save your money on a top-notch car.

The Volkswagen Golf and Polo have been trusted classics over the years and it seems that they are just as popular in 2019. The Astra has been a favourite amongst British drivers for years and it seems as though this model will be sticking around for a while.
