If you’re an avid collector, you will already know that to have the best collection, you need to make sure you get the most desirable items. To be the most successful collector, you need to get the items BEFORE they even become a collector’s item because once they do, the price and availability will go through the roof! And no one wants to pay more than they have to.
Collectors are often borne out of a love for a certain genre. They can become passionately interested in something such as a cartoon series, fantasy franchise, or even something more niche such as anime and want to collect all the associated anime figures. On the other hand, collectors simply love the art of collecting; finding the next big thing and curating a collection that is complete with every element they can find.
Whatever the motivation to collect, one thing that all collectors have is a desire to have the most up to date items so that’s why we’re looking at what’s hot in toy collecting for 2020. Take a look to see what they are and whether you want to start sourcing your new additions…
Star Wars
Yes, one of the best known of all the movie franchises, its popularity does nothing but sharpen the appeal for any memorabilia. This is an incredibly mainstream area to be interested in but thanks to the new releases, the appeal has continued to grow, reaching new audiences. Throughout 2020, look out for new figures being released such as Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: The Mandalorian The Child.
My Hero Academia
The Good Smile company listened to public demand and is bringing out three more characters, Uraraka Ochaco, Todoroki Shouto, and Kirishima Eijirou. They will more than likely sell out so don’t miss your chance!
Back to the Future
What could have been a cult classic, were the films not so incredible they had much broader appeal, Back to the Future remains so popular even without recent releases. Figures are being released throughout the year including Back to the Future 2 Ultimate Marty McFly, Back to the Future Ultimate Biff Tannen, and Back to the Future Time Vehicle 6-Inch Die-Cast Metal Vehicle. Who wouldn’t love to have a mini Dolorian in their collection?!
Yamaguchi All Might
The first in what will hopefully be a long line of figures is out this year so start your latest collection off the right way, by getting your hands on this.
Dragon Ball
The much-loved Dragon Ball series is releasing pieces such as Super Shenron whilst Dragon Ball Z is welcoming Great Ape Vegeta SH Figuarts Action Figure. If you’re a fan of this stylish anime, you won’t want to miss these.
If these weren’t enough to get your collector juices flowing, 2021 looks set to bring even more incredible additions such as items from 80s classics like ThunderCats and an IT Pennywise Bishoujo statue. Fortunately, there seems to be a constant flow of items on their way for the collector’s market, you just need to get them before they sell out!
