It’s astounding how many of us resist upgrading our windows until our existing ones fail, smash, or otherwise can’t go on. Imagined costs and worries about work keep us from taking the plunge and just getting around to this already!
Sadly, though, failing to upgrade windows can cost more, as well as generally letting our homes down. Too many homeowners find this out the hard way. Do you really want to be one of them?
We didn’t think so, which is why we’ve put together a list of 4 sound reasons to upgrade your windows sooner rather than later. Even if you think you’re doing yourself a favour, ignoring these is a sure way to escalating costs and a whole world of hassle that you don’t need!
1. High energy bills
High energy bills have to be the prime reason for window replacements. No one wants to lose valuable heat through old or draughty windows. Not only can an unpleasant window breeze stop you from feeling snug, but it can also add an insane amount to your heating bill. Don’t let it happen by investing in quality new casement windows with secure seals, double panes, and draught-proofing to send your bills plummeting.
2. Costly maintenance
You may also find yourself facing costly maintenance if you don’t get around to replacements. Old windows require specialist servicing, repainting, and may even need new window frames if wood rots. That all costs a pretty penny, and they’re issues you do away with when you upgrade. Modern uPVC and aluminium windows are made with sustainability in mind, meaning you won’t need to worry about them once the installation is out of the way. Instead, your new windows are guaranteed to stand the test of time without costing you past installation.
3. Security compromises
Old windows also compromise security. Unsteady locks or poorly sealed single panes are crying out for thieves. By comparison, modern double glazing provides secure locking systems, adequate seals and thick panes to keep intruders out. Aluminium windows, in particular, are impossible to force open. Why would you take those risks when you don’t need to?
4. Noise you can’t ignore
Your home is supposed to be your haven, but that will never be the case if you’re dealing with excessive noise pollution. Single panes are terrible at blocking sounds, and you’re sure to hear every passing conversation or car. If you live on a busy street, this will soon drive you wild. Luckily, double glazing offers astounding sound reduction capabilities. Even when you live in the town centre, such upgrades could see your home as peaceful as it would be in the countryside!
If you’ve been dealing with these issues until now, then it’s evident you need to make a change. No matter your reasons for avoiding new windows to this point, the benefits of getting around to them at last speak for themselves!
