5 Reasons eco-friendly living is important

Posted on March 24, 2021

**Collaborative post**

A report by the United Nation states that the consumption of the earth’s natural resources by humans has tripled over the last four decades. If we remain at this rate, very soon we will have depleted all the natural resources necessary for healthy living. The damage that has already been done cannot be reversed but with committed efforts, we can cut back on natural resource depletion.

Here are 5 reasons why eco-friendly living is absolutely necessary today.

1.Sustainable Development

If the depletion rate of natural resources does not drive down soon, chances are that there will be little or no resources left for the next generations. The only mechanism to combat this problem is sustainable development. Sustainable development refers to the practice of using natural resources in a prudent manner that does not compromise the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Eco-friendly living reduces the wastage of resources that is necessary for sustainable development.

2.Energy Conservation

Every article, or for that matter, service that we use today is created using some amount of energy. While some products are energy-efficient, others require a lot of energy during production. Eco-friendly living promotes using of energy-efficient products and thereby helps to conserve energy. For example, switching to Green ACs and modern LED lights cuts down on energy consumption. In addition to that, eco-friendly homes reduce the amount of energy needed to heat or cool the house. It promotes checking for energy leaks and fixing them that further reduces the chance of energy loss.

3.Improved Health

One of the most prominent advantages of eco-friendly living is that it has proven health benefits for human beings. An eco-friendly environment would imply fresher air, less pollution, and clean drinking water that are key to good health. Studies show that spending only 15 minutes in a green surrounding can improve the mental and physical health of humans. Since sustainable living embraces natural lighting, it is capable of enhancing happiness and decreasing depression. Consumption of quality and non-toxic food products promotes good health.

4.Cost-Effectiveness

Contrary to popular belief, eco-friendly living can help you save a lot of money. Reusing and recycling -which are the major components of healthy living- helps you save money that would otherwise be spent on buying new articles. Also, most eco-friendly alternatives of daily-use products are cheaper and last longer. For example, LED lights are cheaper, more durable, and consume significantly less power, than traditional light bulbs. Even the green ACs use less power as compared to the conventional ones. Some green alternatives could be a little costlier than their traditional counterparts, but in the long run, their sustainability and durability make them cost-effective. You can visit Ecoy to find out cheaper green alternatives.

5.Environment Conservation

Last yet the most significant reason you should adapt to eco-friendly living is that it reduces chemical abuse and help Mother Nature heal and rejuvenate. The world is going through a tough phase ecologically as the greenhouse effect is constantly on the rise, glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, the ozone layer is depleting and the quality of air is getting worse with each passing year. Eco-friendly helps to reduce the carbon footprint, thereby helping in environmental conservation.

Hence, we see that eco-friendly living has become an absolute necessity today. It not only help save the environment but is cost and energy-efficient too.
