6 ways to look after yourself

Posted on July 1, 2020July 14, 2020

**Collaborative post**

I don’t know about you, but the year seems to be going by so quickly! With a mixture of good weather, social commitments, running around after the kids, hitting those deadlines at work, it’s no wonder that time is flying by. But when was the last time that you took some time aside and did something for yourself? Studies show that putting some time aside each day to look after yourself is good for your physical and mental wellbeing.

Believe it or not, you don’t need a huge bank balance to treat yourself! Don’t believe me? Read on for 6 ways to look after yourself this April.

See your dentist

I know, I know, it’s not exactly a massage or a session at your local spa. But looking after your oral health is the foundation for feeling good both mentally and physically. Many of us don’t enjoy a trip to the dentist, but we all feel good afterwards. You could always make that change you’ve been wanting to for ages by getting new veneers, find out how much veneers cost here.

Head to the spa

Of course, there’s nothing better than spending a whole weekend soaking away all your troubles and having the rest of them massaged out of you. But if your budget is a little more modest, don’t worry. You can still book a spa experience at your local spa and enjoy the facilities for a couple of hours, or you could get in touch with your nearest beauty parlour and book yourself a facial. You deserve it. Self-care is incredibly important, especially with today’s hectic world that can lead to feelings of depression or anxiety. Learn more tips for self-care from BetterHelp.

Read

Most adults wish that they could have more time to read. So, if reading is a pleasure of yours that you’ve had to put on hold due to other commitments, then why not try to put 30 minutes aside each day to catch up on that novel you’ve been meaning to finish! Don’t worry, all that ironing can wait.

Have a soak

There isn’t much that a long, hot bath can’t solve. Even more so if you light some candles, play some relaxing music and switch off from it all. You could wait until the kids have gone to bed, just make sure you’re spoiling yourself with your favourite and most indulgent bubble bath. If you don’t have any – go and get some! The kids bath stuff just won’t cut it!

Pamper your skin

When your skin glows, it shows inside and out. So, exfoliate your skin, buffing all those nasty, dead skin cells away and then slather on plenty of your most indulgent moisturiser or body lotion. If you fancy it, add a little fake tan to give your skin a beautiful sun kissed look. You’ll feel a million dollars.

New underwear

We all have our favourite bra and a pair of knickers. But why not spoil yourself with some new lingerie? It doesn’t have to be lacey and sexy – if you prefer something more comfortable or practical then go for it. Treat yourself to some new socks while you’re at it!
