When the news was announced that the children could head back into school, I just knew there would be complaints from mine. Not that they don’t like school per se but they’ve loved being home so much and there was far more freedom with me being their teacher.

Back to School with Smiggle

One thing they do always love about heading back into school after a long break is being able to choose new stationery, bags, water bottles and lunchboxes. Of course, heading into the shops wasn’t possible this time around, but luckily, they enjoy browsing the Smiggle website just as much – maybe even more as they can do it in their Pyjamas.

As they didn’t get any use out of last year’s school bags, water bottles or lunch boxes, those didn’t need replacing, so they each picked out pens and books they wanted for when they returned back to school.

Harry picked out a back to school bundle which contained a notebook, pencil case, stickers, pencils, a rubber, pencil sharpener, gel pens, pen and highlighters. The set has everything he needs for returning back to school, and I much prefer that the children take in their own pencil cases and use their own stationery to limit the spread of germs within the classroom. Harry’s set is blue in colour and has mermaids on the notebook and rubber, sharpener. Harry loves mermaids and I don’t think these things should be split into categories for boys and girls so was happy when he let his personality shine when choosing his school items. This set has a RRP of £12 but is on offer for £6 currently.

He also chose a dinosaur multifunctional pop-out pencil case to use for keeping these in for school – this is a hard box style pencil case which openings on both sides. It has a pop-out calculator, an inbuilt sharpener and another secret compartment, alongside the two pencil case compartments. Priced on offer for £10.12.

The final item he picked out was a rubber and sharpener combo, which neatly fixes together to keep them neat and tidy.  Priced at £1.40.

Emily chose the same pencil case as Harry in a different colour – she often needs a calculator for school, which means she has it to hand when it is needed.

She also choose a doll/pencil sleepy sprouts pencil case combo – the top half is a sleeping doll and the bottom half which looks like a mermaids tail is a pencil case compartment that unzips to hold her pens and pencils. She loves to fiddle and play in class and while they aren’t allowed toys in class, this is a perfect way for her to break that rule a little. Priced at £10.12

A bendy rubber was also added to her shopping list, another thing she can fiddle and play with in the classroom. She also picked out a lockable notebook and a mermaid pen.

Lastly, she picked out some gel pens which I am actually jealous of. Half are normal gel pens and the other half are glittery pens – she has been enjoying using these to colour in her zen colouring book.
