How the regenerative medicine approach can help combat the signs of ageing

Posted on March 15, 2021March 16, 2021

Regenerative medicine is a branch of medicine that involves developing methods to stimulate cells to regrow, repair, or replace themselves. This form of therapy has been used in the medical world for decades to help repair damaged or diseased cells, tissues, or organs.

It’s also being used a lot more in the luxury cosmetics industry in recent years. Applications of regenerative medicine can help heal skin ailments and stimulate the body to repair skin, giving patients a healthier, more youthful appearance.

If you’re interested in exploring a natural, effective anti-ageing solution, here is a closer look at two of the regenerative medicine procedures being used in the cosmetic industry:

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections

Platelet-rich plasma therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that stimulates the body to amplify its natural growth factors and heal tissues.

This form of therapy involves injecting a concentration of a patient’s own platelets that have been extracted and run through a centrifuge.

When injected into the body, PRP accelerates the healing process. It’s one of the most natural forms of therapy, and has a high success rate due to being made from a patient’s own blood.

PRP treatments are often chosen over traditional cosmetic procedures as there is a low risk of the body rejecting the solution. The side effects are also low, and the results are natural-looking.

It’s particularly effective at smoothing over fine lines and reducing the appearance of aging. Often used on and around the face, PRP injections have seen a huge rise in popularity in recent years.

Stem-Cell skin treatments

Stem-cells are special cells that are able to develop into many different cell types. They are one of the most powerful and effective cells used to help restore, repair, and regrow damaged tissues.

Stem-cell procedures used in the cosmetic industry typically involve taking a sample from a patient, processing the sample so it can be used as an injection, then applied to the desired area.

This form of therapy runs much deeper than other therapies. Stem cells are capable of creating a healing response all the way down to the bone.

Stem-cell treatments are often chosen over traditional treatments due to the natural results, the low risk of rejection as the solution is made from the patient’s own tissues and a long-lasting effect.

It’s widely viewed as one of the most natural and effective ways to rejuvenate skin and give a patient a more youthful look and feel.

Is regenerative medicine right for you?

If you’re in the UK and you’re interested in either of these treatments or other ways regenerative medicine can help you, it’s always recommended you speak with a qualified physician at one of the top cosmetic clinics in London for the best possible care.
