Discover How To Reverse Premature Greying Of Hair

Posted on January 20, 2022June 28, 2022

**Collaborative post**

It’s always disturbing when you see the first signs of grey in your hair. Of course, if you’re in your 50s or 60s then you may simply accept it as part of the aging gracefully process. However, if you are in your 20s or even 30s you may be less inclined to simply accept your changing hair.

The good news is that you don’t have to!

Causes Of Greying Hair

Your hair is the colour it is thanks to pigment cells that exist inside the follicles. As you age the pigment cells die, lightening your hair and eventually making it grey or even white. Once the pigment is gone you can’t reintroduce it.

While genes have a lot to do with when your hair will turn grey, there are other factors that contribute to premature greying. These can be addressed.

Avoid Chemicals

The first thing to do is look at what hair products you are using. Anything that has harsh chemicals needs to go. These chemicals will strip the oil from your hair. This is the protective layer, without it your hair will be dry and brittle. It also allows pollutants access to your follicles, potentially damaging them.

Instead of products with chemicals, go natural. Take a look at the array of options in the Evo range, you’ll find something that is kinder to your hair.

Research suggests that products with coconut oil in can be especially beneficial.

Check Your Diet

Did you know your hair is predominantly water and protein? In order to keep your hair, including the follicles healthy and functioning correctly you need to make sure you’re getting enough protein in your diet.

Focus on consuming a balanced meal every day, that’s proteins, carbohydrates, healthy fats, and vegetables. It won’t just stop premature greying, it can also help you stay healthier.

Hydrate more

As your hair has a large amount of water it makes sense that, to keep it healthy, you’ll need to increase your uptake of water. This is an effective way of keeping your hair and your body hydrated. That will help to reverse premature greying and even keep your body healthier.

Try Coffee

You’ve probably heard that coffee stains your teeth darker. That same staining ability makes coffee a good option for your hair. Simply mix two tablespoons of coffee with boiling water and two tea bags. Then, after the mixture has cooled coat your hair in it, massage it in, and then rinse with lukewarm water.

Curry leaves

Another concoction that has been shown to help reverse premature greying is curry leaves. They are full of protein and beta-carotene which will help your follicles stay strong and healthy.

It’s best to make a thick paste with curry leaves and yoghurt, massage it into your hair, and leave it for 15 minutes before rinsing.

Of course, you can also use hair dye to mask the issue. But, again, make sure that you are using one that is made with natural ingredients, not harsh chemicals.
