Discover the amazing Chaga Mushroom Benefits

Posted on January 21, 2022January 21, 2022

**Collaborative post**

Now, while you probably have seen a mushroom or two in your lifetime, when it comes to the weird and wacky world of super mushrooms, there are some pretty unique varieties.

One of the most unique kinds of mushrooms in the fungi family is the Chaga mushroom. Instead of the classic cute little umbrella style of standard mushrooms, the Chaga mushroom grows on birch trees in cool climates and could easily be mistaken as a burnt part of the tree.

It’s charcoal black in colour, which is as a result of the extremely high level of melanin.

And while the Chaga mushroom might look a little strange, it’s actually packed to the brim with antioxidants and nutrients, which has made it a firm favourite in the superfood world.

If you’re keen on giving new foods and having a nutritious diet, then you should keep reading to find out why you should add chaga mushroom to your diet.

Health Benefits of Chaga Mushroom

The Chaga mushroom offers a huge variety of benefits when added to your diet. Here are only some of these amazing health benefits:

1. It is a magnificent source of nutrition

We weren’t lying when we said the Chaga mushroom is full of nutrients and antioxidants. It is so full of the good stuff that it’s almost hard to believe it.

Many of these nutrients, vitamins and minerals help keep your immune system intact (more on that later). Some of the amazing goodies you’ll find in the Chaga mushroom include:

  •         Amino Acids
  •         B-Complex Vitamins
  •         Calcium
  •         Caesium
  •         Copper
  •         Fibre
  •         Iron
  •         Magnesium
  •         Manganese
  •         Potassium
  •         Rubidium
  •         Selenium
  •         Vitamin D
  •         Zinc
  •         And many others.

In addition to this, the Chaga mushroom scores off the charts on the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) scale, which is essentially a measurement of the antioxidant capacity of a food type.

As you are probably aware, we need antioxidants to help keep our cells and ourselves in peak health, so by adding a little chaga mushroom powder to your diet, you could be setting yourself up for great health.

2. It can help to boost your immune system

So, as we just mentioned, the Chaga mushroom has a pretty extraordinary amount of nutrients and antioxidants. And it’s these antioxidants that can play a role in strengthening your immune system.

It’s actually been shown in some studies on mice, that Chaga mushroom helped to regulate the production of the chemical messengers that are responsible for stimulating white blood cells, known as cytokines. White blood cells are the body’s first and main line of defence against disease and illnesses.

3. It promotes a healthy inflammatory response

Inflammation is a natural response in the body that helps to indicate that there may be something wrong in the body. A little bit of inflammation here and there is normal and ok, however, it needs to be kept under control as chronic inflammation is linked to serious long-term conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.

Cytokines, those chemical messengers we just touched on above, actually help to control the inflammation response in the body. So, with a little extra Chaga mushroom in your diet, your inflammation levels should be in check to keep you nice and healthy.

4. It helps to regulate and balance your stress response

Did you know that prolonged periods or excessive stress can actually have a detrimental effect on our immune system?

Well, as you might have already guessed, the Chaga mushroom can help with this. You see, the Chaga mushroom is actually an adaptogen, which basically means that it can help to support the part of your body that needs it the most. So, if your immune system is compromised from undue amounts of stress, then the Chaga mushroom can help you handle it.

Add Chaga mushroom to your diet today

Now, eating a mushroom straight off the tree isn’t really possible or recommended, so how do you add the Chaga mushroom to your diet?

Well, it’s available in a variety of different forms, from freeze-dried to tinctures, capsules to powdered extracts, which makes it so easy to add to your diet.

If we were to recommend one particular style, we would have to go with Chaga mushroom powder, because you can easily add it to meals, smoothies, teas and much more!

Strengthen your health with the Chaga mushroom today.
